1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee broken rear interior light buttons

My kid's friend played with the push-button rear interior lights in my 1995 Grand Cherokee and now the lower console light (time and date) are out, the radio won't work and the remote/alarm won't work either.  How do I take this apart and (carefully) put the button/spring assembly back together in the upper console? Is this a common problem and does it have an easy fix? thanks, Jon Derovan

    Same Car - Similar Problem:

I Just bought it, The..Im not sure what to call it.. (the electronic notification system/picture of the car under the radio/thing that BEEPS all the time)

Anyway- *that* keeps telling me a rear door is ajar (when its closed)
and also that im experiencing "rear lamp failure"

Neither is accurate, but we **FIXED** the "door ajar" by Duct taping 3 stacked pennies over the sensor on the door. Its a little ghetto, but it dosent show, and the car beeps at me alot less.

Electrical Problem in 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

You co0uld change the module but I don't know the exact location of yours (under the dash) If I was working on it and couldn't get a location, Id take a look at one from a parts house so I had an idea what I was looking for, then start looking. They aren't cheap though so sometimes it's best to have a good shop look it over just to make sure it will fix the problem.
When working, I test everything either with meters, scanners etc or use known good units to check problems. Here, I can only make educated guesses. Electrical parts are generally non-returnable so mistakes can be costly.
Good luck though.

On the 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee if you look in the glove box, on the front of it there are 3 screws remove them and there are relays and fuse under it. the front one on the right hand side is the interior lights.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Electrical issues.

the button that pushed in when you close the door could be bad its literally like a $10 part and plugs in and is only held in with one screw. My interior lights used to flash on and off and i replaced that and now good as new, but you would need to figure out which door is doing it by pushing the button in manually

Grand Cherokee Interior lights stay on

I don't know about the remote hand held key problem but concerning the light staying on...Try... turning off the rear dome light by pushing up on the fixture... it may have been accidently activated when loading stuff in the rear.

The rear dome light has a option feature that allows you to turn on/off interior lighting while loading cargo at night.

Good luck
