The starter switch was sticking a bit so it took several prods to get it started but then it just died and I am not sure if its worth repairing or replace altogether.

Does it work better when you gently push up or down on the door?

If so, it is a failing door switch or door switch mount. If not, I would say your keypad is wearing out.

Either can be fixed pretty easily.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

Does the faceplate light up? If it does not the face plate plug may have come loose.i have seen this on several Sharp microwaves. Simply unplug your microwave, remove two screws holding the face plate, unplug the white plug carefully and then plug it back in. Hope this helps.

How do I replace the bulb for the display panel of a Sharp Microwave oven Model # R-314F ?

Normally switch power off and remove plug from wall socket, undo screws around side and back panel and remove outer cover, then the light socket will be visable so change light bulb and reassemble, CAUTION: high voltage may be present so best left to service person for safety

Auto Cook not working

If autocook is not working and everything else it, there is an issue with the sensor in the oven that detects the steam, The emission of steam is what triggers that unit to shut off. If it wont cook on any settings then the issue is with the microwave generator not putting out enough power. This could be from a lot of things.

Unit was working than just shut down, the display went dead.

hello,

the solutionhas noting to do with reset button or code

what the problem is from the element (heat provider)it is always is silver colour all it means is there is disconnection from it or it is bad.

what you need to do to fix up your oven is to unscrew it and then trace down the wire to the heater (element) but if you did not see any sign of disconnection then you will have to make a change of the element it mean bad .

thank you and thanks for using fixya.

In the middle of cooking frozen dinner, instant death..

We have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk If the fuse blows a few seconds after you hit START, then it's likely that you have an overheating / shorting high-voltage transformer. Try this: Let the oven set unplugged for about an hour to cool completely. Then cook for a minute at the lowest power level. If it runs any longer than it has been, it's probably the high voltage transformer, which is no longer available, but will run about $95 if you can find new old stock. If the fuse blows as soon as you hit START, then it's likely that you have a shorted high-voltage capacitor (#RC-QZA211WRE0) which runs about $25. You can order parts for Sharp models from Tritronics at http://www.wehaveparts.com.

I need to buy a new microwave.

Can't the old one be fixed? I personally like Sharp the very best due to great service info availability and very reasonable part prices for the most part. Despite decent avilability of basic service info, GEs part prices can be beyond sky high. But I'd have to say I dislike Whirlpool most because of serious shortcomings in both departments. These are my professional and personal opinions.
