Your power settings may be set up to inform you at 90% the battery is getting low.
Go to control panel, Performance and Maintaince(only in catigory view), Power Settings click Alarms tab and adjust the sliders to the desired.
Go to control panel, click change battery settings, find the option selected click the link below it saying Change Plan Settings, click the link change advanced power settings, go to the battery section and adjust the low battery level and critical level.

Check the AC adapter and power cord. It sounds as if either one end of the cord near the transformer box is loose, or the end that plugs into the computer is loose/not connecting properly. Failing that, make sure the wall socket you have the cord plugged into has power (try plugging something else into it). If everything I mentioned checks out, there could be something wrong with your battery.
if the power button is flashing and wont power on, remove all other device that is connected, like LAN cable, mouse, etc., remove battery and power.. leave it for like a minute or two. power on the computer w/o the battery and connect power cord directly to the wall outlet. see if that will work if not bring computer to a local tech for hardware repair, and if computer is still in warranty you can call the acer for hardware warranty repair.

You could try unplugging your laptop and taking the battery out, wait a few minutes put the battery back in, then plug it back in to the wall receptable, if you were working on something you wanted to save when this happend it might not keep any of the information, you should be able to boot it back up normally.
