No display can be a number of things. Did you try a different monitor? What brand and model is it? If it is Dell, there are diagnostic lights on the back or front labled ABCD. Which are green and which are amber?

Is there way to connect an external monitor to this? Maybe you can find a docking station. If the LCD went bad it can be very expensive to replace.

There is a way to go back on computer time. you can try this(System Restore) but it's not sure that all of your picture will come back. so,
1) try system restore (earlier time) or
2) use file recovery software's (http://freedownloadport.blogspot.com/2012/06/filescav-lost-data-recovery-software.html ) and use file type(extensions) to Search.

Toshiba laptop will not turn on, screen is completely black

Don't pay attention to your uncle. I had the same problem. Blue ring, power lights on. Sometimes the laptop would come up after a few minutes and then would freeze. It is a power problem. The AC jack may be broken and, most likely, you need to get the MAX1632A power controller (a 40-48 pin black IC next to the AC jack) resoldered too (get someone qualified to do it, with the right soldering station for surface mount work). Try connecting an external monitor - if you get a picture then the laptop screen may be faulty or turned off.

Help Please NO Picture!

The high voltage display power is down. First step is to measure the B+ voltage with a voltmeter to see if you have power to this section. It should be about 140 volts so don't touch it. Having this kind of failure after 3 years is unusual. Was there any kind of power surge etc that may have coincided with it?
