i have a emachine computer and can not get my camera to work. It is saying that usb is not recognize my web cam but for some reason it recognize everything else. what can i do

  • Boogerhead01 May 11, 2010

It's presumably not a document scanner. Do you know what model it really is, perhaps stamped into the plastic? Can you click on Start: Run: devmgmt.msc, or Start: and then in the question box type in devmgmt.msc to see what it is?

Alternately, you may be able to run the free RadarSync app fromhttp://www.radarsync.com ... It's a rather flawed piece of software, but sometimes it helps.

We have to know what the webcam is to know how to help you.

How do you retrive account on new internet serivce

Procedures vary by ISP (Internet Service Provided) Use the customer service phone number or e-mail for your new provider and obtain the procedures for retrieving your old data. If your old provider had a way to check your e-mail online then you should just be able to login to your old account and retrieve the information, but it should have been backed up before you changed ISP. You may have deleted the old account and now you are just SOL.

How to configure router & switch

You shouldn't have to configure anything except the PC's should have IP and gateway set to auto.

Here is how it works:

A router connects two separate networks and manage the traffic between them.

In most home network applications the router connects your local group of computers and devices known as the LAN with the Internet, commonly called the WAN or Wide Area Network.

The router usually assigns unique Local IP addresses to all of the devices connected to it via a service known as DHCP. The addresses assigned by your router are private addresses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_net... and are not routable across the Internet.

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is an auto configuration protocol used on IP networks. Computers that are connected to IP networks must be configured before they can communicate with other computers on the network. DHCP allows a computer to be configured automatically, eliminating the need for intervention by a network administrator. It also provides a central database for keeping track of computers that have been connected to the network. This prevents two computers from accidentally being configured with the same IP address. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_Hos...

Your cable or DSL modem will get a Public WAN IP address from your ISP's DHCP service. These public IP addresses are leased in blocks by your ISP and are Internet routeble. The modem is connected to the WAN port on your router. The router will manage the traffic between the devices on the LAN and the Internet.

If your 5 port switch is connected to one of the router's LAN ports and router's DHCP is on then it will configure the clients attached to It automatically.

Trying to change from actiontec gt701 to actiontec gt701-wg. after new modem is hooked up, internet light stays red. switched by to old modem and all is fine. anyone know why internet light stayed red?

The reason why your internet light is red for the actiontec gt701-wg is because it is not yet configure. You need to access the gui of this router. enter the username and password for your internet connection. You can contact your ISP provider so they can walk you through for the steps on how to configure your new router.

The old router has green light because it was already configured by your ISP provider.

First I will need to know the type of ISP service you have, T1 - DSL - ADSL - CABLE - etc. And the connection type, STATIC IP - DYNAMIC IP - PPPOE - etc. BPCS

Connecting to sky broadband

In general the Wan port of the router gets connected to the modem (box supplied by your internet service provider or ISP) where the computer used to connect and the computer connects to the switch portion of the router which often has 4 or more ports. The router has configuration options that must be set to comply with your internet service providers (ISPs) requirements. These can often be found on his support web site. If you can provide the link to the website I can assist with the search. Otherwise I will need the name of the ISP. If this ISP is cable related like Road Runner I will need the associated cable provider. I will also may need to know the country, city and state in which you are located as some ISPs have geographic differences in equipment. Depending on what that information determines I may also need to know the Manufacturer and Model of the Modem -- probably the box supplied by your ISP. It would also be helpful to know if you got the router used or new. Used routers may have been configured by their previous owner and require additional changes to new routers with factory default settings.

All of the above information may lead to the determination that maybe we must enter a static IP address into the router, maybe we need to provide for PPPoE login for the router, maybe we need to configure the modem to allow the router to perform the PPPoE login, and several other such items. This is probably not a one reply solution.

To provide detailed information concerning that I will need to know the model number of your Belkin Router.
