Sound problem on Toshiba CX2779K

This is a 1991 Toshiba TV but still performs like brand new except for the sound went out all of a sudden and can't get it back on. I have tried all the simple things like making sure the speaker was in the "on" position, etc. Wonder if you have ran into this before?

Thanks, Luther

Is there any recourse for a new TV that has little sound?

I do not understand why the set cannot be returned but I would be interested to know if the low sound is on TV or DVD only or both.

Some of these sets have a tiny audio circuit that puts out fairly low sound levels---unless a as is sale the set has to be fit to be used, go after the store first for refund or exchange for another brand or Contact Toshiba==set may be up for a exchange if enough folks complain.

Audio went dead with no sound on any channel. Signal was breaking up (picture was tiling). When tiling stopped, sound went dead.

We just purcased Toshiba 26AV502U, now the screen is blank

Heard back from Toshiba. They said to unplug the TV, wait at least 3 minutes, and then plug it back in. This should allow it to reset itself. Sounded too simple, but after doing just that the tv has worked fine for the last three days! Toshiba noted that if this didn't resolve the problem we should contact them to have a Toshiba Authorized service person come check out the tv. It worked for us, hopefully it'll work for you too. Good Luck

Problems with sound that buzz/vibration sound My brand new Toshiba 40 LCD has similar occasional buzz/ vibration coming from inside TV

Same problem with my new Toshiba 55" LCD.
Also, after being on for awhile, the sound suddenly gets distorted in a fuzzy, echoie kind of way. Switching to a non-digital channel and switching back seems to make that correct itself. I may try a new HDMI cable to see if the problem goes away. Any other ideas?

Problem with tv

Could be a horizontal output fault, faulty power supply, a simple dry solder joint or HVT. If you can hear arcing or smell an ozone odour, it will be the HVT which may cost a bit.

Without knowing the actual cause, it's impossible to say how much it would cost to fix it.... could be anywhere from $50 to $250 etc

Best to have it checked by a technician and get a quote to repair... then decide if you think it's worth it.

Toshiba is generally a reliable brand, so if you were happy with the picture quality before the fault occurred, it's probably worth repairing.

Cheers

Toshiba TV picture has shifted high

if it cannot be adjusted then there is a problem in tv. your problem is in vertical output circuit Can this be corrected easily ? yes or do I need to start looking for a new TV? I love this one and would like to keep it a while longer. not to look for new tv.you will keep it for longer that has a picture that recently shifted upward and now cuts off about 1 inch of the top of the picture. Otherwise it functions properly. your problem is in vertical output circuit please check 1loose contact in vertical output section 2 capacitor defective in v/output. it is a common problem. it is a not a major problem. if you are not tech person get it done by skilled tech. hope this will help.
