Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Washer fills the tub with water then does not do anything else.

You can hear the timer going and clicking but no action. Only the delicate and handwash cycle correctly, out of 10 cycles. I took out the timer and checked it out. Seems clean, nothing burnt or broken. Still, I'm guessing I need a new timer. Having a hard time finding one for this model.

Thanks. Almost there. My Maytag doesn't have a series number anywhere on it. Only serial number and model number. The site at the link shows a timer for series 10 or 15. Does the series number represent number of cycles?

I really thank you for trying but my last question wasn't fully answered. There are two part numbers listed at two different prices for the timer. One for a Series 10 and one for a Series 15 for model lat8616aae. My washer does not have a series number thus my problem. I really want to avoid ordering the wrong one.

Sorry for the belated thanks. The timer was indeed the problem, and calling the company on the link with my serial number did the trick. The timer I needed was not listed on the website. Thanks again.

the listing i posted is for your model number. so the parts that you require should be on this link. the link as a search by model number. it automatically finds the correct parts for that model.

my apologies sir, i can cross reference a part that you need but i would need the machine serial number in order to get the correct part number.. according to maytag the part you require goes by the serial number... they can match the part for your machine, but need the correct machine serial number in order to get the correct one.. or click here and log onto:-

and click on the live help link at the top of the page... then give them your machine serial number and they will give you the correct timer for your machine according to your machine serial number..

hope this is of more assistance

I have a stacked whirlpool, the dryer works but the washer doesnt do anything at all. I think its the timer switch, but how can I be sure?

If you do not hear the fill solenoids open to allow water in, I would check that the timer has all its wires connected. Most have a push/pull switch that energizes or de-energizes all the washer stuff. Generally connected to the timer knob. If that switch fails, you'll have no power to the rest of the bits.

Front loader wont agitate or spin, but it fills with water and pumps water out

likely the lid switch is bad - if not the ECU/timer is.

Frigidaire (LTF2940E) Washer starts, stops, starts, stops...

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Will not fill with water and the tablet does not drop it starts up and then just stays on that same cycle position

yakers hope you can read this too the first thing dish washers do when you turn them to start is drain to get any left over water in the sump out then they fill then start wash cycle bazamoza id say you have a bad timer motor you can advance it manually one click at a time if you hear the water valve kick in then replace the timer if not reply to this post for further action
yakers check the float in the tub to make sure its engaging the safety micro switch pull the kick plate off at the bottom and find the rod from the dome in the tub and see if its engaging the micro safety switch that keep it from over filling
if all that's good then reply to post

Kenmore 22956 top loader quit running after agite cycle

If the timer cycles your lid switch is ok.
most likely: motor Switch (on Motor), condenser next to motor, motor itself, or wiring going from the time to the switch,

It is probably cost efficient to replace the unit rather than trowing parts at it .
