Coolpix l5 - SD card won't seat

The SD memory card won't seat. Any ideas?

That didn't do it. I have no trouble sliding it into the slot as the SD card is keyed to prevent misalignment. I tried pressing it in as far as possible and down as you've suggested, but it still won't seat.

    Thanks for your help, though.

The Nikon are very good about placing a sd symbol on the door of the memory compartment. The trick is to align the dog ear side of the memory stick with the picture on the door the push down until the stick bottoms out in the slot it should then lock in to place. Conversely to remove it push down again until it un locks.

It sounds like the latch in the camera is jammed or broken. How long have you had it? I would suggest contacting nikon and try to get it warranty repaired.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Will a Nikon L5 camera take a SD card larger than 2 GB?

No. Cards larger than 2GB are actually SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards and, while they will fit into the slot, will not work.

Hi..

Out of memory on Nikon Coolpix L18 camera

I noticed that, after dumping the full SD card onto my computer, I didn't seat it perfectly back in the camera (my finger bottomed out on the batteries before the memory card 'clicked' into place. With the camera unable to see the SD card, it defaulted to the internal memory, which is very small.

I got the SD card seated fully and the "Out of Memory" message went away.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.
