Same problem, bit more complicated

Same problem with the whole detecting excellent signal but no internet. I was able to solve that by restarting the computer, restarting the modem, and then repair the wireless signal; but the problem here is that every time somebody calls our phone, the internet stops working. So basically I have to do the whole process again every time the phone rings.

Re: Same problem, bit more complicated

Sandrew's solution works if you have DSL

However, if you have dialup access, you need to set up your software to dial *70 before dialing the Internet service. This will block the call-waiting signal from ciming through and disrupting your service.

Are you using a cordless phone? -If yes, check if the phone operates on the 2.4 Ghz band. -Change the channel on your cordless phone if it operates on the 2.4 Ghz band. -If changing the channel does not work, try getting a cordless phone which operates on a different frequency band.

Re: Same problem, bit more complicated

This is a case of an incorrectly fitted or faulty filter. One of these should be fitted to every socket where a telephone is used, as they enable land line and the adsl connection to run at the same time.

To solve your problem:
go here

Basically what you have done is plugged it in but did not set up the router on a static or dynamic IP address.

Once you have established the IP address of the router and it is recognized by your ISP device (DSL, Cable, Satellite modem ....etc etc.) then you have to decide which device will be the DNS server and assign IP address to all the wireless devices that connect to it.

Lots of things can be wrong. You need to follow the steps on the set up link i gave you properly and in the correct order

Connected wireless to router, excellent signal, but unable to connect to internet.

connected to wireless router with excellent signal may not means you are connected to internet. make sure your modem provided by internet service provider has signal! connect your computer to modem directly bypassing router. If you are online that means your internet is functional. Then connect modem to your Linksys router and use your wireless to log on to internet.
Your router wireless signal active and excellent means you are connected to router not necessarily the internet. The modem supplied by your internet service provider with active internet should be connected to you router on WAN port!
good luck!!

My Laptop (gateway nv54) are approximatly 10m from my router tew-652brp. and the signal are just "good" . how can i get a excellent signal. thanks

You would probably need to be closer than 10M from the router to get excellent.
Honestly I am not even that far from my neighbors connection, and they don't always show up as excellent.
Don't worry, you are likely still getting 48-56MB/s connection to a router which is connected to a modem that probably doesn't even have a 10M connection to the internet.
In other words, even if your connection was excellent with a side of turbocharged, your internet wouldn't be any faster than it is now.
The only thing affected at this point in computer to computer file transfer speeds and such within your own local network.

However, one tip that might help is to switch from channel 11 if you're on it (the usual default) to channel 6. This is done in the router settings, not the PC.

Don't forget, TrendNET although I use a bunch of their stuff, is pretty much the BIC of the computer world. Ya, it'll do what it's meant to, but there's so many other brands that do it so much better - the trade off is almost everything else is quite a bit more expensive!

So, short of parabolic reflectors or antennas that cost as much as the router itself, there's not much you can, or even need to do - it's a bit of a non-issue.

If you'd like to discuss parabolic reflectors or external antennas though, I'd be glad to.
I have a couple external antennas I just love!

Have you tried to reset router. It has to be done in order.
1. unplug router
2. unplug modem
3. shut down computer and restart after waiting 1 min
4. after restarting computer plug power back into modem and wait for all the lights to start blinking
5. after the modem is working plug power back to router and plug in the computer with ethernet cable and make sure you have internet,
6. try to link up with wireless,
If this does not work you will have to setup the router for wireless if it is att wireless you will have to call them to give you the password to set it up.

Hi, i have bought this netgear 108mbps wireless router WGT624, 2 weeeks ago, it was working good, but now suddenly it shows less mbps and when tried to restart it, now it not working, i mean it says in my...

I suggest try to check the netgear if it is connected to the internet. If the wirelss signal is good, it might be the internet connection is having some issue.
What you can try to do first is:
1.connect a computer to the netgear directly using an ethernet cable (RJ45)
2. click start then select run type cmd (It's a black screen)
3. type ipconfig/all then press enter on your keyboard
4. check the ip address it should be 192.168.X.X and the default gateway is or depending on the router default ip address
5. on the black screen type ping then enter on the key board
*if there is a "reply from" message it means there is an internet connection going in the router and you need to configure the router. *If the message is "unable to detect" or "request timed out". You need to contact you Internet Service Provider for assistance.

The router is running fine all hook ups are fine changed the wireless card took that to a computer place and it was running fine at the shop when I got the pc home unable to access the internet even though...

The cable internet is not "seeing" the computer. The router is blocking it. That is why it works if you plug it into the modem directly. How to solve this is to turn everything off and unplug power to modems and routers for 3-5 minutes. Then replug in routers. Then restart computers.

That is why it worked at the computer store. Everything was shut down and restarted.

Also, sometimes it is necessary to call the ISP (for example Comcast) and have them re-send the signal. Also going to Control Panel Network Connections and choose "repair the connection" will reset the signal.
Be patient it will work.
