Half way uploading the map that I purchased from Magellan and my computer complained that the GPS was no longer found. I restarted the GPS but it got stuck in the blue screen (start up) screen.

I have the same problem . I was halfway loading/backing up files when the GPS drive disappeared from "my computer". Then it's stuck at the blue starting up screen forever. Tried to reset and power off/on a few times and it still stops at the blue screen everytime.

Yup I have the very same problem,,, I guess my battery on the 4250 Magellan was low, I was entering an address, and it turned off... thinking in was the battery, I wanted to go into my car and place the GPS on the cars power supply...

Nothing,,, Blue Screen with the MAGELLAN logo

did it all reset power off everything you can think of

I called Magellan, and was told to send in my GPS, and for 200 whatever dollars PLUS 26 dollar shipping fee they would send me a new GPS...

I had my GPS for just over 1 year and treated it better then my wife

MAGELLAN... STAY AWAY FROM THEM go Garmin

Same exact issue as others have described. Only started happening after I tried to update the software on the GPS.

Have you tried to reset the GPS, there is a small hole on the side, use a pen, push it in and wait for it to reboot. You may have to do it a couple of time, my sister in law had the same issue and I was able to get it back up and running.

Have a 4040 maestro magellan will not get off the magellan screen

if this just happened, and you have not tried to update it (sometimes the update causes this) then power the 4040 on and once it finished loading to the blue screen, using a paper clip, depress the reset switch on the left side and let it restart (little pinhole on the left side under the usb port)

if you need further help, just reply to this post.

Maestro 4250 frozen after incomplete 2009 map up date

I had same problem on 3/28/09.

According to Magellan and other people who have experienced the same problem, this is terminal to the unit. It can be caused by downloading the 08/09 Magellan map upgrade, which can cause the unit to permanently lock up. Magellan is well aware of the problem, and should offer to replace your unit if you have the problem. If you elect to have it repaired, Magellan can download the map upgrade for you in the repair process. Here is a site noting the same problem: http://74.125.93.104/search?q=cache:pNLjGT-i4-sJ:forums.gpsreview.net/viewtopic.php%3Ft%3D8958+magellan+4250+gps+stays+on+blue+screen&cd=8&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Questions for Magellan: 1) why would they sell, in 2009, gps units with old 2007 maps loaded in them, requiring the purchaser to buy a current map, and 2) if there is a problem with downloading the current maps, why is there not an advisement or warning to the installer.

Other than replacing the unit, there appears to be no "fix".

Magellan 3250 won't update

Hi, I had the same problem with my 3200. Got the update, and it bricked my unit. After 3 weeks of searching the net for solutions, all of which did not work, I called Magellan Tech Support today. Simply told them that I was updating the maps, update failed, and now the unit will not boot past the blue magellan screen with the progress bar. They asked for some information, including the email address that you used to register the product, and the serial number of the unit, as well as the map update information...which you had to register to get the unlock code. They are able to see all of this c in their tests on the unit, which of course did not work. I was then given a RA#, and account #, and was assured that I would get a pre-paid shipping label via email within 24 hours. All you have to do is pack the unit and take it to fed-ex with the label. They will fix your unit with the updated maps, and return it to you via Fed-Ex. Took no longer than 15 minutes on the phone, which beats the 3 weeks of research that did not help. Problem solved. Just call Tech Support, this is a well-known problem, and they will fix your unit and update the map. Hope this helps.

No a practical solution, but at least you will get your device repair, after being on hold for 40 minutes I spoke to a very nice rep, unfortunately evethough she didn't admit it, it seems a software problem with the new 2008/2009 map update, in other words no way to fix it, you need to send it for repair, make sure you tell them to update the device with the new 2008/2009 Maps, if not you will have the same problem later on, Good Luck
