Is it the pulley on the crankshaft or is it the tensioner locking up because of a bad bearing? If it is the pulley, buy a new one or go to the junk yard and buy one and replace it before you do serious damage to the engine and seals.
Almost anything can be fixed but if a DVD player it usually is less expensive to buy a new one----seeing ones here for as little as $20--off brand but new---they have become as disposable as paper towels.
You got a bad capcitor then on the power supply. You need to change out the bad capcitor so the fuse will not blow. I would recommend just buying a new power supply to save face as with anything eletronics just reparing one thing as you did brings out new issues.
Remember before touching anything eletrical I advice you if you do not know what your doing leave it to the experts who do thanks for using Fixya.com
Chirping sound is usaly a horizontal issue, either the flyback transformer the horizontal output transistor is shorted. This repair takes some expertiese and a multi-meter. Soldering skills are a must. This can be an involved repair if you never worked on a tv before.
You have 2 more caps in same circuit you need to replace cp114---cp120 both are 220uf 35v. Also chirping nosie means Shorted hori output NTE 2324 .On second ribbon on deflection board make sure it is connect good or it will make a squealing noise and TV will not come on. Happy New Year.
Try using a cleaning disc, run it for about 20 to 30 seconds. If that does not help you do not really have any other options, RCA does not sell parts for the audio equipment anymore. They stopped about a year ago or more. I work at a authorized RCA service center and we can not repair any of the RCA audio equipment because of this.
The problem with your CD player is most likely the laser pick up, when it goes bad it can not read the disc's so it thinks there is no disc in it. The laser pick up is the most common reason for your type of problem.
If it is under the RCA warranty still you can send it to them and get a free replacement, if not under warranty you may as well trash it and buy a new one from a different manufacturer. The RCA audio equipment is not very good quality. That is the reason they no longer offer parts for them, it is cheaper for them to give you a new one than to pay a service center to fix it.
I repaired an RCA same model with a very similar symptom. I found bad connections on the printed circuit board at L411 and L 412 (coils) in the horizontal drive circuit. Give the set a good Fonzie ( Happy Days) smack on the side and see if it comes on. LOL. Bad connections are common with that model. It is probably worth fixing and no, lightning didnt do it.
