Wobbles when spinning

I think the problem is the balance ring; it has lost fluid

I believe the problem is the balance ring. The washer acts like a weight on a tether; it wobbles eccentrically at the very beginning before it reaches much speed and sitting on it does not even prevent wobbling. I have leveled the washer as much as the legs allow me to. I don't think not being level is the problem.

Hi thanks for using Fixya.com
The washer is not level or it has a broken spring or strut causing the wobble of the whole machine.
this requires hands on service! it is a job to change these!

Constant out of balance on washer

Check the inter tub ring you should hear water when you spin it by hand
if you dont hear water replace the spin tub balnce ring it must be cracked or has a hole in it and leaked out the fluid this is a counter balancer when it gows into the spin cycle

Maytag mah55flbwq not draining

Perfectly normal..
What you are actually hearing is a balance ring on the inner tub that has liquid inside to help keep washing loads balanced.
The balance ring is filled with a calcium chloride solution and baffles within the ring allow the fluid to disperse within the ring evenly
By rotating the spin basket you can hear the fluid dispersing within the baffles of the balance ring.

I also thought ours was not draining properly but discovered otherwise when I had to take the inner tub out for a bearing repair job..
Hope this puts your mind at rest..

MW511. Pride The wash bowl seems loose and will not spin. I can hear the motor working but no spin is occurring. Will wash and rinse but not spin. It seems balanced on the floor. Would something have come...

The drum is meant to be wobbly, to a certain degree, you might want to get that looked at, but sounds like you need to replace the spline drive, under the wasing drum, remove the agitator, top deck by the 2 screws under lid and lift, then remove the neck ring it just clips on then the wash drum WILL pull out, then in the center you will see the spline drive housing, it has 3 screws, remove these screws and remove, both parts you can see make up the spline drive, replace and put back together in reverse order

Goes of balance in spin cycle 90% of the time

I found one of my motor mounts loose. The unbalance cracked and broke the base of the washer. I found this when the machine stopped spinning. I am replacing the base(expensive) and transmission pulley. The motor mount is on the front right bottom. You may find the same when you tilt the washer back. I would tighten it up now!

Unstable tub

There are springs inside the unit that stablize the tub during spin. If the springs are not attached correctly the tub will be off balance. Sometimes the Balance Ring loses it's fluid due to a crack or leak and the washer will spin off balance. THis requires a service tech to dissemble the machine.

Can you repair balance ring/tub unit on whirlpool direct drive washer or must you just buy a new tub? I think the fluid has leaked from the balance ring.

some units had balance held in place by clips those could be replaced separately those where balance slipped around outer edge of tub are not a separate part that can be ordered

Off balance spin cylce

The base of the tub assembly rests on a white plastic ring called a 'snubber'. If any type of lubricant gets in this area, the tub will wobble excessively. The major cause for this issue is a failed transmission where oil has leaked out and into the snubber. The transmission may be warranted for 10 years. Check your owners manual. A good method to check for oil is to tilt the machine back and remove the plastic cover in the center of the pulley, if it contains oil, the transmission is leaking also look at the inside cabinet wall for signs of oil splatter.
