Thanks. I just had to reinstall my hard drive due to a virus that wiped me out and when I did this my touch pad became over sensitive. I will try finding a later driver on Toshiba's sight.

I checked and this was not the case. Thanks. I also did an upgrade driver from my system and as thought...I have the latest version. Thanks for your help.

Worst case, you could overlay the touchpad with the self-adhesive laminate used to protect photos. I would try it first without removing the backing to see if you can stand the loss of accuracy which will almost surely be a consequence of using it.
You might also check Toshiba's support section to see if there is a later driver with better control.

There is a chance that the reinstallation caused Win to throw a generic mouse driver in instead of using the touchpad's software.

You can look at the properties of the driver via the control panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager.
Opening the mouse listing, you can get details with a right-click.

Toshiba may make their own touchpad & driver but many manufacturers buy that subassembly from specialty companies.

Hi kipspal2,

You can adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad according to your requirement. Just follow the instructions below:
1) Click on Start.
2) Go to Control Panel
3) Double Click on 'Mouse'.

4) The Mouse Properties dialogue box pops up.
5) In the pointer options tab, under Motion, there will be a slider under 'Select a pointer speed'.

6) Move the slider with your mouse towards 'Slow'. Now you will notice that when you move your mouse, the sensitivity has decreased.
7) Apply the settings and Click OK.

Hope this information was helpful.

Thank you for using fixya,

How do i turn mouse pad on and off ??

with the touchpads on my laptops, if you have the drivers installed, you should be able to go to the control panel, mouse settings and in there there should be something for turning the touchpad on and off. if the options arent there, maybe you need to get the drivers for it.

My keyboard and touchpad cursor are both frozen.

Touch Pad can be disabled on two different ways. The first one is using FN+F9 key combination or using DISABLE option in mouse properties in control panel

A135-4257 touchpad stopped working

Check to see the make of your touchpad (in most cases it would be a synaptics one.) If so, go to http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers and download the corresponding driver according to your operating system.
NOTE
I'm assuming you already went through the basic steps such as checking if there's a dedicated touchpad button which might be turned off, checking if from control panel\mouse the device is not disabled, etc.

Touch pad refuses to work

Try going to Toshiba's support page and re-install the driver for the touchpad. If this does not work. You may need to replace the touchpad itself.

Touchpad is not working - TOSHIBA Satellite A135-2386

Hey there... :D

Could you try the Fn+F9 Key to Disable/Enable your touchpad mouse?

Because just now i've experiencing the same problem as you guys... and turns out I can make my touchpad working just by pressing the Fn+F9 key.

Note: if your Fn key is not working try installing Toshiba utilities for A135 called FlashCard, run the program and there will be a dropdown menu at the upperside of your screen...
then click on F9 >> and choose Enable.... Thats It... :)

I hope it also solved your problem... :D
