32" scott I have a 32" Scott that my wife tried to turn off and it shocked her. Now the tv will always come up with the power light green and no picture. Every 10-15 seconds it seems to power cycle, the light goes red and then imediatly back to green. No buttons work, and i pulled the board and found that the fuze is not blown. Any ideas?

Why won't it turn on?

Hi Scott,
Green light flashes and the set goes back to stand by means it is trying to start but the action is not completing because of some fault either in the power supply itself or some other section. Please consult some local TV Tech to handle it.

I turned tv off with then surge protector strip now i get no power to tv no red light no turn on...just dead as a doornail

That is known to sometimes happen...and if it is any consideration it is known to happen accross the board, not just with Scott LCT37SHA :-)

Try a different outlet for a starter, then consdier using this:

There are two places to look, first place will be the power supply module, it should put out 5, 12, and 24vdc. If you do have these voltage than look at the backlight inverter board to see if it has 24vdc feeding it. Look for bad caps with bulging tops on the power supply module also.

Tv wont turn on

Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. Or, something simple like a blown fuse inside the TV. The most common board to go bad is the Backlight Inverter Board. It what supplies power to the screen. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptoms.

You have a few choices:

1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 - 45 minutes so the TV can discharge and reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.

3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Scott lcd tv does not turn on

This sounds like a proble with the unit's power supply in which case you could find a local tv repair shop and see how much they would charge to diagnose the issue.

Scott lcd tv does not turn on

We just repaired ours - same problems (did not replacc the 1000uF and 470uF Capacitors in secondary yet as ours were still OK, but the FET was killed by an arcing capacitor across a diode,
See the page we created for this with pictures.

Be careful - High voltage!
