All you should need to do is install the most current sound drivers for XP. If you can tell me what sound card you are running, I'll have a look.

Hi i have hp pavilion dv6500 vista i changed it to windows xp and now i cant play any sound there is no sound device

When you are going from vista back to xp windows it is hard to find the supported device drivers. The only thing I can suggest is go to www.hp.com to see if they support xp audio driver, failing that do a google search for your make and model to see if somebody has come up with a solution.

I upgraded my hp omnibook 6100 from xp to windows vista. now it tells me that there is no audio device installed. is there a driver i can download for my laptop that is compatible with windows vista?

I had the same problem with my HP when l put vista on it and overcame that problem with using my XP driver. It worked for me no harm in trying your XP driver.

No audio device installed.

It's unlikly that HP will relesae he needed Vista drivers for your sound device.
That has been a problem with Vista since day 1.
If you want your sound back, you should go back to XP.
Windows Vista use a new software architecture, and hardware devices must comply with it, in order to be used by the new OS.
Sorry

Can't download the driver for XP

The HP 550 Notebook laptop comes with Windows Vista, but the hardware configuration isn’t good enough to run vista smoothly. I am posting windows xp drivers for hp 550 notebook here.
http://www.getpcmemory.com/drivers/download-hp-550-notebook-windows-xp-drivers/
or find the drivers on the bussiness section of the HP web
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3765010&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3764998&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093
Try these links first, if it is unsuccesful we will look at you browser configuration :)

Sound video and internet

You need to install the drivers for all those devices. Which you will get from the HP Website but the problem you may have is that this laptop was only available with Vista so there may not be any drivers available to XP.
