Question about Printers & Copiers

My Lexmark Z510 does not automatically grab the loaded paper...when I manually work the paper into place the printer then leaves ink smudge marks slightly on the print side and really extensively on the blank reverse side. How can I correct this and get things back to normal?

PROBLEM SOLVED:....REMOVE the Black connect cartridge from the back of the printer...OPEN the front cover and MOVE the ink cartridges to the center position .....CHECK for any paper particles anywhere...REMOVE the ink cartridges...FOLD a sheet of print paper in half lengthwise...INSERT folded paper in center of feeder.....MOVE the empty cartridge container back and forth from left to right 5 or more times....REPLACE the connect cartridge in the back of the printer....INSERT Ink cartridges ....print something. IF THIS DOES NOT WORK....TURN the Printer upside down and GENTLY tap the bottom to release any dust or tiny paper particles.

Clean the paper loading area first, look at the area where the paper is loaded, there's a "thing" in there that grabs the paper (usually it has rubber on it, clean that piece).

post back IF the paper feeding is fixed, otherwise it needs service.

You have a foreign object in the paper feed path. Remove it and you should be ok again. It is also possible (though less likely) the pick up roller is worn out.

It sounds like you have a leaky Cardridge, Maybe you are reffiling it to? Well you are gonna have to strip it completely to remove the x's ink from the feeder. This makes the rubber slip on the paper, use a sope that degreases and make sure its dry. Hope this will solve your problem

PLease reset your printer by unplugging all the cords for 30min and then plug them back in again after 30min.Now turn on the power and see if it grabs the paper or not.

Let me know the result.

Smudged ink

Chances are the fuser is not working correctly. How warm is the paper as soon as it leaves the printer? It should be quite warm. The fuser heats the toner and 'fuses' it to the paper. If the fuser does not get hot enough, then the toner which is a powder smudges on the paper. Also not setting the correct paper type for a tray will also cause the toner to smudge as the printer adjusts the temperature based on the type of paper selected.

Unit was working fine.It just stopped feeding the paper into the printer.Just makes a high pitched sound like it has no paper in the load shute.Thought it was the Ink.Got new ink,no luck.I don't abuse...

Leading cause of paper jams is debris/foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please follow steps below to fix the problem:

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.

3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

4. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Blue smudge marks are printing on the edge of the paper

These defects normally occur when printing is attempted on unsupported media or when the printer is set up for a different type of media than the media that is actually loaded into the machine.

Check your media and ensure that it is suitable for use in the printer. Refer to the printer's user manual for information on supported media types and weights. Is the media you are printing on supported in the printer?

Ensure that the paper type is set accurately on the printer operator panel (go to Menu/Paper Menu/Size-Type/Tray1/Type). Is the paper type set correctly on the printer operator panel?

Change the paper weight setting to heavy on the printer operator panel (go to Menu/Paper Menu/Size-Type/Tray1/Type/Heavy Paper/Check button). Try printing your document again. Did the error return? If the error returns, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for further assistance.

I'm trying to print wedding invitations on my Canon MP460. I'm using a cardstock thickness of paper and have set the ink levels for "Other Photo Paper" on my Mac. The paper has been going through...

Sounds like the ink isn't having time to dry and is rubbing along paper.

Paper may be too thick. If it prints OK on normal paper (test first) but not on thick card, then it doesn't support thick paper settings.

There are black ink smudges on the bottom corners and edges of my color prints on velvet fine art paper. How can I stop that from happening. I already cleaned the heads twice. The prints are great...

The R2400 has an option to load paper on-top (Epson calls it the Automatic Document Feeder) and at the back. Based on the printer's User Guide the Velvet Fineart Paper should be loaded at the back. (Epson called is the Manual Single Sheet Feed).

Look at the User's Guide availabe on their website.

Waste ink tank over flowing??

Hi, like every ink jet printer, there should be an ink pad(spunch) at the bottom of the printer to collect the waste. That spunch might be full of ink. You could locate it, remove and try to clean it under the water. See if it works
