I have a Kodac V1003 camera with a cracked screen. When you take a picture you can no longer see it on the screen. Can you fix this?

There seems to be a problem with LCD area. It needs repairs.

You can fix it with a opening tool.

A new screen is availably from virtualvillage dot com for about $45. I replaced one last week. It only takes 20 minutes and a small screwdriver. The ribbon cable is held in by a flip up lock at the main board.

no the screen is not worth gettin fixed the lcd scrren usaually cost more than the camera itself does but if your camera is discont get it fixed because their will be no other camera like it

As long as the pictures look fine it is something going on with the lcd display.

If it was taking pictures the same, it could be a special effect that is turned on or the CCD is bad. It sounds like the LCD display is bad. Some cameras can be repaired at a reasonable price with a new LCD display.

Have you replaced the batteries in the camera? That might take care of the problem.

unfortunately it would appear to be a CCD or main board failure.
If the camera is out of warranty (as this should be covered) my best suggestion is to pick up one off ebay with a broken screen and put your screen in it, broken screens are common on these cameras so they go quite cheaply, far cheaper than kodak would charge for repair and the swap is easy.
There are several searchs to try "parts v1003" "spares v1003" "Faulty v1003" "repair v1003"

Yes, the screen can be replaced. Can you still take pictures? Can you download the pictures to your PC to see them?

I am just trying to determine whether there is more damage to the camera than just the screen.

I have replaced several of these screens on Kodak cameras. They are not too difficult to replace. I wrote an article on how to do it on the Kodak V603/V803/V1003 series cameras.

You can either contact Sanyo to fix your camera or purchase the new screen from them.

Since you just purchased it in December, it may still be under warranty. Try giving them a call and see if they will fix it for you under the warranty.

They may not be willing to do so if they suspect the camara was dropped or abused in any way. Still, its worth a try.

The other solution is to replace the screen yourself.
