I have the same problem, but my monitor freezes on the little gateway logo

  • browneyedme1 Jan 27, 2009

I also own this model #. Mine will flash the gateway flash and then the screen goes black and will not come on. This is my 2nd gateway monitor with this problem. I had the first one 14 months when it went and it took 2 1/2 months to get it back after sending it in to gateway. I have now had the replacement one 4 months and it is now doing the same thing. Gateway is now saying that first it is out of warranty (this is a 2 year warranty Apr 7,2007 to Apr 7, 2009 ) and it is only Jan. 2009. Then they continued to say that I had purchased a used unit. I have a receipt from Costco showing that this is a new unit. I also work at Costco and know for a fact that we do not receive in refurbished computers or anything else refurbished to sell. Am goin thru the Costco Concierge Services to resolve this. At least I have someone to help me fight this battle.

They should fix it for free but they won't

I have a gateway dx4200-09 and when I boot up the screen goes black a few seconds after we turn it on and can't do much without visual have to constantly turn on and off monitor for brief glimpses

Either the Monitor or Video Card is going bad. Since it comes back on by turning the monitor off and on, I suspect it's the monitor.

If you have another monitor, plug it in and see if it works. If so, the problem was the monitor.

If you have another computer, plug the monitor into it and see if it works, if so, the problem was the video card.

I have a gateway 506gr the monitor says self test, check your pc and signal cable monitor is working. nothing responds whats up?

Try turning the monitor after the pc is on. I have one monitor that shows that message if it is turned on before the pc is. If that doesn't work then there's 2 things i can think of. One is the cable is damaged, big issue if is integrated, and second the video card. Even if it is integrated you can get a replacement one and disable the first one if it gives you problems.

Screen goes off showing VGA with cable on the screen

This looks like a bad cable connection. Try using a new cable for the connection between the computer and monitor. If that does not work test you computer on another monitor to make sure you are getting signal output from the video card. Also check the monitor on another computer. This is to check and make sure the monitor is working properly. You can also try using a add on video card in the computer to see if you can use the monitor this way.If you still are having problems. You can use this web address to get customer from Gateway. I hope this helps you with your problem.

The l226wtq goes black

Try shining a flashlight on the screen, or without the flashlight, try to see if you can distinguish anything on the screen at all, if you do, the backlight is dead, or the monitor has an internal most likely unfixable problem.
