I have the same problem, but my monitor freezes on the little gateway logo

  • browneyedme1 Jan 27, 2009

I also own this model #. Mine will flash the gateway flash and then the screen goes black and will not come on. This is my 2nd gateway monitor with this problem. I had the first one 14 months when it went and it took 2 1/2 months to get it back after sending it in to gateway. I have now had the replacement one 4 months and it is now doing the same thing. Gateway is now saying that first it is out of warranty (this is a 2 year warranty Apr 7,2007 to Apr 7, 2009 ) and it is only Jan. 2009. Then they continued to say that I had purchased a used unit. I have a receipt from Costco showing that this is a new unit. I also work at Costco and know for a fact that we do not receive in refurbished computers or anything else refurbished to sell. Am goin thru the Costco Concierge Services to resolve this. At least I have someone to help me fight this battle.

Mine went bad too. Great product huh?

It's probably easier to by a new monitor for $120

They should fix it for free but they won't

I replaced the 3 parts mentioned above, along with 1 other cap that was on the other board next to the power supply, it was a 1UF that i also upgraded to 50V. i ordered my parts from MOUSER.com in the US. check for other electronics parts warehouses if you live elsewhere, as they are everywhere...

HOW DO I CONNECT A GATEWAY LP2207 TO GET THE AUDIO TO WORK?

Some monitors do not have speakers (my HP monitor does not). The sound has come out of some external speakers attached to the tower. Or maybe you need to access the monitors on-screen menu to turn the speakers on (if they have speakers). Or maybe you can access the monitor speaker control through the PCs Device Manager option (this is where all external components attache to the PC can be viewed, and sometimes changed).

Gateway LP2207 64 bit drivers

If you can't find the drivers anywhere else, do this: There is a UL Code listing on the back on the monitor's electrical ID tag on the back label. It has a number on it: UL (number). Go to the UL site and look up the number, it will tell you who actually made the monitor for Gateway. (Gateway doesn't
make monitors, it rebrands them.) Go to the mfr's site and download drivers for the monitor of the same size as yours using the 64 bit drivers. It will take a bit of slouthing, but can't be done successfully. (Ex. Sampo is actually Hitachi.)

You didn't mention what operating system you have.
You can check out the drivers here for the LP2207: http://www.driverplatform.com/file_lp2207-monitor.html

Additionally, you can get a lp2201 manual here: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/Gateway_HD2201_Manual.pdf

I have a Gateway LP2207 Monitor and it will only turn on for 2 seconds then turn off. It was running fine originally until I went to lunch, came back and the monitor was black. I took the advice on this...

It sounds like your original problem was indeed a power issue that was having trouble keeping the lamps on. Replacing the capacitors was a 50/50 shot at repairing the problem and it sounds like in the process the monitor is now completely dead. The click is the lamp attempting to fire.
While you may have connected the cabling incorrectly I can not find a schematic for the inverter board to clarify what goes where. I also know that you should replace all the electrolytic capacitors as well as the ceramic capacitors as unseen damage may have occurred to them as well.

Check your video card. it may be a bit lose in the port. Also, you should reinstall your video card drivers as well. make sure your monitor is plugged into the correct video card AVI/dvi input port.
