Have you a wireless adapter in your laptop, and if so have you installed the drivers for this adapter?

If you have installed the device drivers when you click on the icon of the wireless adapter do you see your wireless access point or any other assess points near you?

Is the wireless adapter drivers compatible with your version of Windows (if it is not specific for your version of Windows it may not work)?

If you can see other wireless access points near you, then your wireless adapter is working and the fault lies with the configuration of the settings on the wireless adapter and or your wireless access point.

Your sister was accessing the wireless access point at school which is connected to the Internet/WEB access via a router and the school's broadband service provider.
For you to access the Internet using your wireless adapter on your laptop, you need your own wireless access point and connect it to a broadband ADSL or cable modem and then connect it to an Internet Service Provider. Some Internet Service Providers (cable and ADSL) can supply a combined modem/router/wireless Access point.
If you already have a broadband modem all you need is a wireless access point/router. You only need to configure the wireless access point and your wireless adapter so they will communicate with each other. Folow the instructions in the manuals.

Hi I have just installed a brand new Belkin wireless router and it works great with all computers and laptops in the family (including Apple products) apart from my daughters laptop...she has a toshiba...

Check the main computer you set up the network router with...you may need to go to the network status and tasks in control panel...click on this...then you will see a map of all the network devices connected...find the belkin router and click on it...in this window there should be a tab called wireless properties..click this...the wireless properties first page should have the wireless SSID name listed here...and if you click the security tab then the security type and network key are displayed here..You need to write down the SSID, security type, and network key and make sdure the toshiba laptop setting for the wireless network are exactly the same. There may be a link on the first page of the wireless securities saying copy to usb drive..you can use this to copy all network settings to and then transfer these settings in to the toshiba by using the network setup wizard.

Iphone doesn't work with router Dell 1184 broadband router in my house works with windows laptops but not Apple iPhone or iTouch. I have had the router/software installed for 5 years, is there new software...

you said the laptop is connected to the network.
when you try to connect to the wireless network on the i-touch or i-phone, do you see your network.
if your network is secured then you must enter the correct password for the wireless. If you are not sure about the wireless key or the password then you will need to open the router set up page and check the wireless settings.
you can also try to upgrade the firmware ( software) of the router.

Hi,

You may want to double-check if the wireless adapter on your laptop is enabled. If it is enabled, try to view the available wireless networks on your wireless connection and select the name of your wireless network. You may also want to check your wireless router if there is a wireless security enabled. It is important that you know the wireless settings on your wireless router to make sure that the wireless adapater settings on your laptop match the settings on the wireless router.

Need to boost my wireless signal for remote laptop

It's almost a DIY deal, but how close are you to Corpus?

The unit you need is a Wireless access point. My favorite, fairly inexpensive, WAP is made by TP Link. http://www.tplink.com/products/product_des.asp?id=116

You can start with one, at ***********'s, add an external antenna, and set it up as a client pointing to your wireless internet connection. If that doesn't work, you duplicate the equipment set up as a wireless access point at your location.

Post back if you need purchasing help or are near Corpus.

Wireless Network gone from Toshiba Laptop all of a sudden.

Please try to scan and connect to your wireless network at a distance of around 6 to 7 feet from the router. This might help if there are any interference issues at play.

Also, you could manually create a profile for your wireless network on that laptop and try.

Alternatively, you could update the drivers for the adapter on the Toshiba laptop and check it out.

Please let me know if the above helps. Also, kindly rate the solution, if it helps.

Thank you.

With Warm Regards

I cant connect to wireless on my brand new laptop :(

you need to make sure that your laptop has a wireless card in it and if it's working properly. if it has a wireless card already, the wireless card should automatically detect your wireless router (the wireless icon is usually located at the bottom right hand corner of your screen) and you just need to connect using the correct wireless settings (ssid and wireless security).you need to also check if the wireless capability of the router is enabled. make sure to check if the wireless light on the router is on.

here are the steps on how to check the wireless settings of the router

- open a web browser using a computer connected to the router via cable. enter http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar.
- it will prompt you to enter a username and password, use "admin"
- it will now promt you with your router's screen, go to the wireless section
- check the wireless settings like the wireless name/ssid that are listed there since that would be settings that you need to use on your laptop (note: you can change the wireless name/ssid to something that you can remember easily and just saev the settings)
- check also the wireless security if it's enabled

hope this'll help you

ciao!
