Question about Oregon Scientific DS6688 Digital Camera
Hi all I bought this little camera around 3 years ago and it was perfect for my mac computer with very little issues apart from the fct it sucks juice big time on batteries!. Anyways, I went to a wedding over a year ago and whilst downloading the pics to my mac desktop I did not realise that my computers extensions were OFF. The computer then asked me if I wanted to initialize my camera and kept asking every time I retried to load the pics so I said yes to initializing and I lost the pics and I think I lost the pre-programmed sofware in the actual camera itself as now it will take pictures but will not flash and when I down load the icon for the drive shows but no pics are shown in the cameras folder. Sooooo to my question is there any way to get the original sofware re-installed back on the camera?, please help I nearly cried when I realised what I did (nearly I said lol) It does still take pictures but will not download in the usual way it is supposed to, I have to employ other software to get at the pics, the filament for theflash is in tact but does not respond. Help somebody! Thanks in advance Nick

The oregon companies SUPPORT page
or here http://www2.oregonscientific.com/shop/product.asp?cid=21&scid=80&pid=648#
download the file from that link
it should have the drivers for it OR
It is not nescessary to have the software either
ou can use the Camera without the installing the software supplied on the software installation disc.
The simplest way to transfer the photos from the Camera to the Computer is to connect it to the USB port of a Computer then follow the following steps:
1. For Windows Computer:
(a) as soon as the Camera is connected the computer recognizes it as a removable drive.
(b) open the windows exlorer by pressing the "Windows + E" key together.
(c) locate the removable drive in the windows explorer that represents the connected camera.
(d) double click the drive to navigate through the files and folders, then double click on the DCIM folder to view all the images.or navigate through other available folders to check if the images are stored in them too.
(e) select all the desired images then copy them by pressing "CTRL+C" then paste them on the hard drive of the Computer by pressing "CTRL+V".
2. For Mac"
(a) as soon as the Camera is connected the computer recognizes it as a "NO NAME" folder and display it on the Desktop.
(b) double click the "NO Name" folder to navigate through the files and folders, then double click on the DCIM folder to view all the images. or navigate through other available folders to check if the images are stored in them too.
(c) select all the desired images then copy them then paste them on the hard drive of the Computer by using the copy and paste operation.
Furthermore, you may use Windows Fax Viewer, Windows Photo Gallery or Windows Movie Maker to view and edit images in Windows and iPhoto in Mac.
