I recall a TV show saying that sometimes Kindle's break down and that there is nothing can fix them. Models (it said) seem to have only a limited operational life.
You can of course buy a refurbished model, but they are picked from certain models that had specific faults that were fixable, but sent back under warranty. A new model being sent out to the person that returned it. If your Kindle was out of warranty. The Amazon people would be under pressure to encourage you to get a new one, hence the reply. But that is my opinion. I think the company on the whole is very good at customer service. But I doubt it is set up to encourage repairs of out of warranty items.

The refurbishment you describe is virtually all labor (aside from grease and oil) and can be expensive.

I would certainly re-oil the rear bearing and check the condition of the grease in the planetary and gear box (transmission) and clean and replace grease if needed.
In addition, I check the condition of the motor brushes and replace if needed (precaution, the brushed go in only one way so that the chamfer clears the internal stops).

Assuming the charger is OK, you probably have one or more shorted cells in the battery pack. If the pack uses nickel-cadmium cells, then it has shorted cells for certain. You may find someone offering refurbished packs on eBay.

No you prolly dont have a warranty at all. I dont on my refurbished disk. As far as the game not playing it has to do something with the Cd. Alot of times the people that sell the disk send it through a certain kind of scanner and it erases or screws up the CD somehow. U might wanna take it back and get it replaced if its not to late.
