Question about Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT,, PCI Express Video Card

1 Answer

No signal possible compatibility issue

New components all around.

MSI x58 Platinun
HEC Zephyr 750 W
Galaxy GeForce 9600 1G 256 bit

The monitor tells me I have no signal input. Is this card compatible with my motherboard? (There's no details on either manufacturer's site) I have 4 different cords on the PSU for PCI-E two 6 pins (Rail 1, Rail 2) and two 6 pins with 8 pins on the same cord (Rail 1, Rail 2). My motherboard is expecting me to plug the graphics card into PCI-E x 16 slot 1. Should I be using the 6 pin cord, or the 6 pin and 8 pin cord, and should it be Rail 1 or Rail 2? (Again, no clarification from the manufacturers). I'm trying to figure out if it's a Motherboard problem I'm having or a graphics card problem, or a compatibility problem.

Yes, it will definately rock some hardcore once I get it going :þ

I already have the card in the first PCI-E slot (closest to the CPU). Also tried plugging it into the second slot to no effect.

I like how Galaxy has no manuals anywhere on their site for the GeForce 9 series.

Yes, I did connect the power. In fact part of my question was wether it mattered or not which of the 6-pin PCI-E cords the card was attached to.

Thats some nice items you have there M8!:) your machine gona rock when you done whit it!:)
And yes, the card is compatible whit your MoBo!
On your mobo you have 7 slots, 2 blue ones, they are PCI Express gen2 x16 slots , 2 white ones (the smal ones), they are 3 PCI Express gen2 x1 slots and 2 white ones (the large ones), they are 2 PCI slot, support 3.3V/ 5V PCI bus Interface.
The card you have you connect in the forst blue one, the second is if you waht to use 2 cards and drive them as crossfire.

So connect the card in the fist blue slot!

Good luck!

BTW, here is the link to MSI for your card

Their is no direct drivers for that compatibility. your best bet is to try using ForceWare Release 95. This works most of the time, so hopefully this will work for you!

Computer powers up but monitor wont displays from video card, so I swithch to motherboard connectors

This may be because your graphics card is not compatible with your motherboard, If you are using a newer Intel motherboard for example with Intel HD Graphics, there may be issues with using an older GeForce card with the board.
