Hi and welcome back to FixYa,

Based on your description, you have two (2) concerns:

  • timer - apparently timer is set to turn on at 2:00PM. If you still have the original remote, try disabling TIMER SET or see if can be done on the front panel. Alternately unplug from the mains for a couople of hours to reset and revert to factory defaults. Of course all user setting, configurations and memory would be erased;
  • spins but not play - could indicate a dirty or weak laser eye. Cleaning could be performed using a CD ROM disc cleaner. While the lens is replaceable, repair cost consideration would have to be factored in based on the age of the unit. At some point, it may be cheaper to hookup an external CD player to the AUX input.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Being that the system is rather on the the old side. It is not worth to have the unit serviced. I would replace the unit with a similar unit. A better unit could easily be purchased for under a 100$. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution.
Thanks,
Lee

The lens which reads the discs is either faulty or dirty.either needs cleaning or replacement.

I just bought the RCA CD/DVD home theater system RTD206. I cant figure out how to change the radio channels. Also cant figure out how to change the cd disk tracks. Does this system have a remote. Or do...

The system does have a remote (at least it should come with one if purchased new), and you need it to control pretty much everything. Here's what the manual says about the radio tuner (you can find the whole manual here) :

Manual Tuning
1. Connect the FM aerial and the AM loop antenna at the back of the unit. Rotate the AM loop for
better reception.
2. Press TUNER to enter TUNER mode and toggle between FM and AM.
3. When the FM station broadcasts Stereo sound, ST is displayed.
4. Tune a station by pressing repeatedly the TUNER+/- buttons until the desired station is found.
Alternatively, you can press and hold the same buttons down for about one second to activate
the automatic search function. In this mode the player will automatically tune frequencies until
it finds a station.
5. Repeat step 4 to tune to another radio station.

Storing radio stations
The player can store up to 30 radio stations in its memory. You can enter every single radio station
yourself or the player can store all available radio stations automatically in ascending order.
Automatic preset programming
1. Press TUNER to enter the Tuner mode.
2. Press and hold TUNER down for 3 seconds to start automatic preset programming.
Note: A weak signal can affect the "Automatic preset programming" function's efficiency. Adjust the aerial for better
reception and a more efficient search.
3. Radio frequencies will be browsed and radio stations stored automaitcally. When all the available
radio stations are stored or all 30 memory locations are full, the auto preset programming
function will stop.

Manual preset
1. Tune to a radio station (see "Manual tuning" for details).
2. Press MEMORY once to enter flashing Preset Loaction number.
3. While the Preset Location number is still flashing, input your desired preset number (1-30) using
the numeric buttons or press the CH+/- buttons, then press MEMORY to store it.

Retrieving preset stations
1. Press TUNER to enter the Tuner mode.
2. Press CH+/- to search up or down for the preset stations or directly press the numeric buttons.

As you see, you really need that remote. The same is true for disc play. While there are front panel buttons for play/stop, disc skip, and drawer open/close, you don't have any other control without the remote. Without the remote control you'll find this system won't do too much, unfortunately. If you bought this new, check the packing material before you throw it away to make sure the remote's not still somewhere in the box. They often come tucked into slots on the foam inserts.

Also, when you hook the unit to a TV, it's just using the TV as a video display device. The TV has nothing to do with any of the system's other functions.

I hope you have luck locating the remote! Thanks for using Fixya.

Hi I have a Telefunken CD player - I have burnt mp3's and 3wav files but it does not recognise these formats -- please advise what format I need to burn my CD-R disks. Thank You. Chris.

Hello!
First you need to find out if your CD player plays CD-Rs, and if so, does it also play MP3s and WAV files. A simple way to do this is by looking it up in the manual. If you don't have a manual, try looking for your model on their website.
Next, make sure that you set your CD- burning software to burn a DATA disk. If you have the option, you could also burn a MP3 disk. Data disks have always worked for me.
Drag and drop (or Copy and Paste) your files into your burning software. Once you're satisfied with the songs on it, hit BURN or Write to Disk.
If your CD player does NOT play MP3s/WAVs, then you have to burn an AUDIO CD. Keep in mind, you can only add about 80 minutes of music to an audio disk.
I recommend using Nero to burn your CDs. It is one of the best burning software I have used. This should work. If in doubt, try this tutorial.

Can i use my mp3 player with a fisher rs 727 receiver/amp

Yes, just connect a male mini-plug/2 RCA male plug adapter into the mp3 player and connect the male RCA plugs to the AUX IN on the back of the receiver. It may take several pieces to "build" the adapter, e.g. often you'll find a male mini-plug/2 female RCA adapter, so then you'd need an RCA "patch" cable with males at both ends to complete the link.

Sound from my turntable started going.sounded like a big pile of fluff on it but. changed the cartridge (AT95E). still have the problem plugged it into the aux on amp (marantz pm-44se)sounds ok but have to...

AUX does not have enough gain for a pick up, it will never have volume. Use the proper (phonograph/main/turntable/preamp) input. Check the wiring from the stylus arm all the way to the RCA plugs, one of them might be shorting, or broken. Just test for continuity from the cartridge receptacle to the RCA plug. Turntables have very little sound components to go wrong.

I have a recently purchased RS 2664 RCA shelf

If the wires got crossed and/or touched each other at all - that could certainly damage the amp(s).
Also - if the system is not made for extra speaker - that would change the ohmage - and that could aslo damage the amp(s)..

Or maybe the system designed to protect the amp(s) was damaged..

Hope this helps !!
Please rate me good ;o)

We have the RCA RS2767i Home Stereo with 5-disc changer and ipod dock. The CD Tray won't eject or shuffle...everything else works fine. It seems the disc tray isn't responding to anything. We read in the...

Let me respond with a possible solution although I'd bet that both of you already tried these.

The reason I checked into this is because I'm looking for a new mini system. I happen to be at Target and they only had 2 models - this one and a SONY. I certainly didn't want to buy the RCA given these problems, so I asked the salesperson, who seemed to have some knowlege.

As far as opening the tray on top, there is a button to push right under the tray. The button has an icon of a triangle on it. This seems to be somewhat of a standard icon for opening the tray or ejecting a CD (my car's CD has the same icon for ejecting a CD).

As far as only being able to get 3 CD's out, there is another button under the tray marked "disc skip". This rotates the tray. When you open the tray, you can only get to 3 of the CD's. When you push disk skip, it rotates the tray one position, so you can get the 4th one out. Another push and now you can get the 5th one.

Sometimes my CD changer doesn't shuffle the disks. If I only have 1 CD or DVD in it and push the tray open button, the disk stays in the unit and the tray revolves to an intermediate position. I push the button to put the tray back and try disc skip; that usually works.

If your problems are not solved per above, then I definitely do NOT want to get this.

There are actually two types of this latch available. Can you tell if yours has a switch in it? You can tell if you can see the bottom. The one with the switch has 2 wire tabs on it.
