I need to add more cooling to Emachines T5212 - Electircal Diagram

I need to add more cooling fans to my computer and wanted to find a manual on the motherboard, layout of motherboard and electrical diagram so I can wire the fans in the proper way and places. Plus I could use these manuals for later problems that come up. I have been looking for a service manual for this machine for some time now.

The manufacturer is the best source for a diagram for your machine. However, most cooling fans are three prong plugs, some are two or four, and most motherboards label these connections right on the motherboard. So, if you look at the motherboard and find a three prong connection that says something like CPU_FAN, CHA_FAN1 (Chassis Fan 1), CHA_FAN2, etc you are good to go.

Part Number There are literally millions if not billions of different part numbers used by companies today. Because of the vast quantity of part numbers and the frequency of those numbers getting changed or referenced to other numbers, Computer Hope is unable to offer its customers with third-party part numbers.
If you are looking for a part number we recommend that you contact the computer company or the company responsible for supporting your product. You can find a listing of companies and their contact information on our company listing.
If the company responsible for your product is no longer in business we recommend the below.

  • If you do not have any numbers, but have the product or part you wish to replace, ensure that no numbers are listed on that part. If a number or name of company is listed on the product see the next section. However, if no number can be located we recommend you take the product to a local service center, repair shop, or the place of purchase for additional assistance.
  • If you are able to locate a number, attempt to search the Internet with a large search engine for that number. If you are unable to locate that number we recommend you take the product to a local service center, repair shop, or the place of purchase for additional assistance.
  • If you are only able to locate the name of the company who made the product, attempt to contact that company directly to see if they can provide you with a replacement. See our company listing for contact information.
Also see: Part Number (PN) Computer Hope dictionary definition.
Manual suggest you visit the manufacturer of your product web page.

Also see: Manual Computer Hope dictionary definition

Serial Numbers Unfortunately, with the billions of different serial numbers and manufacturer numbers, contact the manufacturer of the product or look for information about the product on Computer Hope by searching by the manufacturer or type of device name. For example, instead of searching for "Serial Number 12345" it may be easier to search for "Maxtor hard drive".
If you are looking for a serial number for a particular software program you will need to contact the software developer or producer of the software program; Computer Hope will not provide any type of serial numbers or other registration numbers to any users. See our underground section for additional information to why Computer Hope does not provide this information.
Finally, a serial number for a hardware device such as a computer or printer can almost always be found on the bottom or back of the device. If you're trying to find the serial number for one of these devices try physically examining the device. If you're still having issues locating it the contact the manufacturer .
Missing or lost CD, disk, or install file If you've lost one or more of your installation CD's or diskettes you must contact the developer of that program to obtain a new copy. Computer Hope cannot send anyone copies of the disks or downloadable files over the Internet of the program regardless if you have purchased the program.

SOURCE: emachines t2865 power led diagram

The header connections that you are looking for are on the edge of the motherboard near the battery. Look for a group of gold contacts sticking straight up at you. The silkscreen tells you which header are for what light or switch. You will see one that says "PWR LED". Another says "PWR SW" Another says "HDD LED". They are printed very small. You will see others in that vicinity that say "SAST1" and "SPKR". Ignore them.Look along the edge where the battery is mounted some are located around the nearby corner but still along the edge. All should be on the edge nearst the front of your machine. Others may be along the edge facing the bottom of your machine.

SOURCE: Need wiring diagram for eMachine 20030812 motherboard!!!

You should be able to see the words/letters that go with the jumpers on the motherboard itself. look around the jumper settings area for power, pwr etc. and match them up with your jumpers which should have what the go to on them.

T5212 making fan grinding sound possibly from heatsink fan?

In My Humble Opinion, Heather, YOU can fix anything in your computer.

You have replaced a Power Supply, and added a graphics card.

1) The eMachines T5212 Desktop PC uses an Intel D102GGC2 motherboard,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121031

The motherboard supports an LGA 775 processor socket,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_775

Instead of the processor having the contact pins, as in the older Intel Pentium 4 processors (Socket 478), the LGA 775 processor socket has the contact pins.

http://www.pcworld.com/product/29441/emachines-t5212.html

After the page fully loads click on the third view down, and the left side.
This inside view shows the black rounded air duct, used on the processor fan.

Here is a replacement Heatsink/Fan combo,

http://www.cputopia.com/emachine-fan-t-series-t5212.html

It looks as though the unit comes apart. (unscrews)
If so you can just replace the fan itself.

IF not however, it means the finned aluminum Heatsink, AND fan remove.
In this case you have to THOROUGHLY clean the top of the Processor, and bottom of the Heatsink, and apply Thermal Paste properly.
I can guide you.

[ I know you have been following the proper procedures, but I would hate to learn later that you haven't been, and I didn't post;

Follow Anti-Static Precautions
Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit), the delicate hardware components inside a computer.

Relieve your body of Static BEFORE working on your computer, or before taking those parts out of their anti-static bags, or cartons.

Computer on a table, computer Unplugged from power, computer case open;
TOUCH an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of the open computer case.
This action will relieve your body of Static.

IF you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, be SURE to Touch the metal frame again upon your return ]

Be sure to clean in-between the fins of the Heatsink, before installing the new fan.

Know you need to get a new computer?
Only if it fits your needs.

For myself it is internet, Youtube, Adobe Photoshop 7, and office programs.
My Pentium 4 HT, model 540j, (3.2GHz), 2GB's of ram memory, and an ATI Radeon 9250, does just fine.

If you are a gamer, and/or use 3D programs, and/or burn videos, then more 'power' is needed. IMHO.

Windows 7? Windows 8? Yeah, whatever.
I have Win7 on my new laptop.
Perhaps one day Windblows will catch up with Ubuntu and the Compiz windows manager, lol!

Emachines t5212 overheat message then shuts down

Three causes of ovheating:
1) Dust. Dust inside the computer, Dust around the vents, fans, cpu and heat sink. Take a can of compressed air and clean the dust out of the computer.

2) A Fan not working. Make sure the fan inside the Power Supply where you plug the power cord in works. Also there is a fan that sits on top of the CPU and Heat Sink. Make sure it works. Normally the system will give you an error message if the fan is not working.

3) Thermal Paste - The Thermal Paste around the cpu and heat sink has dried up or is too thin to keep the unit cool. Apply a fresh coat of Thermal Paste on the CPU and Heat Sink.

EMachine T5212 best boot Option. I don't know much about computers and I don't want to erase anything. What option is best to use in the "Boot Option Menu"?

if you have a recovery option you can try that. that option allows you to reload the previously known good start up operating system before you added any new updates. you should have an option to choose a previous date.

Fan works randomly....when it's not working plug

Hi, If the computer is hot near the electrical plug in the back of the computer then the power supply needs to be replaced. This will also cause overheating problems if the fan does not exhaust enough air. You should not run the computer in this condition because the power supply can short out and take other components with it. Also there is a risk that it will burn up. Power supplies are very inexpensive and can be changed by anyone with basic computer repair knowledge. Hank

Put in new power supply. not sure of wiring diagram. now monitor says no input signal. what should it look like? did i miss something?

If my sources are correct, (Haven't worked on one in my shop yet), the eMachines T5212 desktop computer uses an Intel D101GGC2 motherboard.

The Intel D101GGC motherboard is Very similar,

Give a few seconds for the first page to come up, (Took 6 seconds for me), and for the PDF file to fully download, before looking through it. (Took 24 seconds for me)

1) Did you make sure the 24 -pin ATX main power cable, is plugged in tight?
Lock on the side is snapped in place?

Closer look at a 24-pin ATX main power cable, and it's respective connector,

2) Did you plug in the 4-pin ATX +12 Volt power cable?

Are the cables (Wires) from the Front Panel of the computer, plugged in correctly into the Front Panel header on the motherboard?
Page 37

Are you sure the DDR2 Sdram ram memory module/s (Stick/s) are plugged in tight?

The best method is to remove it, or them, and reinstall.
This way you are assured.

Most of the time a ram memory module, or more than one, will be bumped loose when installing a Power Supply.
