Question about Westinghouse LCM-22w2 Television

1 Answer

My Westinghouse LCM 22w2 (1 year old) has developed a green line running top to bottom of the screen. I cannot get rid of it. I've tried turning the monitor off, changing inputs, reseting - but it's still there. Any suggestions? Thanks, Bob

I spoke to Westinghouse and they confirmed your assessment. No love from them on a 2 year old monitor with this problem. Into the round file it goes :-(. Pretty poor performance for a LCD monitor - less than 2 years of modest use service.

    Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately that is a failure in the display electronics and is repairable only by replacing the display panel. I don't know what the warranty period is for this model, but check your purchase date and the warranty information. If the thing is just recently out of warranty maybe the manufacturer will work with you on a solution. Or you can contact them anyway and ask. Sometimes if you complain loud enough it works wonders.

LG plasma 50 inch tv with a fine vertical black line in the center of the screen that runs from the top of the screen to the bottom

Try changing the input device to something you are sure works. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

I have an LG 42PJ350 plasma TV which has suddenly developed a vertical green line around 1.5in wide from top to the bottom of the screen. It makes no difference whether watcing TV or using XBox. Is this...

Yes, life span on Plasma and LCD sets is 3-5 years.

The green line (or any line) can be a board (sustain types on Plasma or inverter on LCD) but can even be a control problem inside the set--area that controls scanning etc) and in worst case can be the display panel itself--fatal issue.

Trouble shooting entails a signal generator, a expensive scope, and a good set of hands working with them to check voltage, waveforms, etc to try to decide where the problem is.

Then we have the board jockeys who guess and try one board after another (gets expensive and takes time) to see which if any board will fix the problem---when all boards have been tried (seen this ) all that is left is the panel or display unit--cost for that is more than the set new.

Can't find correct setting for westinghouse lcm22w2 monitor

I don't know if this actually will fix your problem, but all LCM 22w2's are plagued with the 'white screen of death' and eventual power shutoff, including garbage characters and faulty menu, video output, etc. Here's how I fixed it.

The Westinghouse LCM 22w2 has bad capacitors on the yellow power supplyboard. This is a common problem plaguing motherboards and LCDflatpanels that use capacitors from Taiwan. If you know how to solder,or know somebody that can, it's actually a pretty easy fix. Take outthe yellow circuit board on the inside, write down the specificationsfor each of the capacitors (the cylindrical things) go to theelectronics supply store and get the replacement capacitors. You can goover the voltage specification (not under), but keep the capacitancevalue matching. Replace one at a time. Go to www.badcaps.net foradvice, tutorials and training on doing this. *You really shouldreplace all the capacitors*, but the very large one next to the powerplug I did leave on the board because I couldn't find a match. To mydelight, the white screen of death went away and it was working as new!

I saved a ton of money fixing this, it's definitely worth learning how to solder to do this.

I fixed it! It's the power supply board.

Your problem isn't precisely the same one I had, but I have the feeling you're not saying that this was a problem that gradually got worse over time and now it won't power up.

This maybe the symptom of a bad Panel. One Vertically This line is 99% bad panel. Call your warranty provider or SONY tech support if purchased under 2 years.
