My sound HI NOW I HAVE NO SOUND , MEDIA PLAYER SAYES NO AUDIO HARDWARE AVAILBLE ,SOUND AND AUDIO DEVICE PROPERITIES STATES NO AUDIO DEVICE , THE C MEDIA AC97 AUDIO DEVICE PROPERTIES DEVICE STATUS STATES DEVICE CANNOT START CODE 10 . MY PC IS A SYSTEMAX AMD ATHLON XP 1473MHZ . GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY MOTHERBOARD. PCI BUS 0 DEVICE 17 FUNCTION 5 .CMEDIA AC97 AUDIO DEVICE VER 5.12.1.50 HOPE THIS INFO CAN HELP YOU TO HELP ME

In fact its dedicated solely to Compaq SR2150NX Model. I hope I helped..
The sound idea is usually solved this way: You need to open START- Then CONTROL PANEL-SYSTEM- Click HARDWARE Tab- Then Open Device Manager. Scroll to Audio Device (If You see a Yellow ? mark go to #2) Now Click & Delete Driver or Uninstall. RESTART PC- (Drivers Usually Reload + You Get Sound Back) #2: You have NO Driver (or Incorrect Driver) Click Update Driver + Go Online to Get New Driver.

If you are running xp on this compaq sr2150nx like me windows update will update the hd realtic drivers..

    the only thing windows update does not put in the driver for sm bus controller.. other wise they picked it all up if your running xp on this machine (compaq sr2150nx)

Media player

open audio devices and sound properties in your device manager. Is your sound card listed? If so, highlite it and select properties...then see if it is enabled...if not, click enable this device. If not listed, try re-installing it with install new hardware. Finally, if its there, but wont enable, remove the device and reinstall it. If all the above fails, replace the sound card if its not intigrated. if it is intigrated, buy a PCI Plug and play sound card and install it in a pci slot.

Can i ask where to find my drivers?

Right click on My Computer > Click Properties > On the System Properities menu click on the Hardware tab > Click Device manager > Expand the menu Sound, Video and game controllers find your sound device that has a yellow exclamation mark against it.

Right click and click update drivers. Follw the onscreen prompts toupdate the device driver.

Did you check start->control panel->system->hardware tab-> device manager and see if there are any errors related to your sound drivers? Probably see a yellow exclamation

Microphone

Open system properities. click hardware tab & than device manager. Scoll down to Sound, video & game controller. Do you see a yellow ! point there. That means the driver may need to be reinstalled. Asus is famous for having defective mic controllers & yes the sound works but no mic. You can also open control panel open sound & audio devices. You should have the same device under Audio & Voice. If you do, again your intergrated mic controller is bad. Your manual most likely will not have the correct number to call tech. They moved in 07. So I'll put it in here: 812-282-2787Tech IL Eastern Time. Good luck!
