1997 chevy makibu wont start tries to but wont start sometimes it will start other times it wont then it ill start n die in a few seconds whats wrong with it

I suspect that your fuel system is faulty. Check for a clogged fuel filter, or if your fuel pump don't run at all, replace the "fuel pump relay". Fuel pump may be faulty. Sometimes your fuel pump will run, but be too weak to hold pressure, which will let your car idle somewhat, but be too weak to run the engine at speed or under load.

RAN OUT OF GAS, NOW CAR WONT STAY CRANKED MORE THAN 4 MIN

Hi there,

sometimes when you run out of gas you can pull up the dirt from the bottom of the tank and damage the pump one quick way to see if you have a pump or filter problem is to put gas directly into the carbuerator or throttle body if fuel injected you can try spraying starting fluid into the air intake also try heet in the fuel tank i hope one of these works for you also to make sure your fuel pump is running you can take off the gas cap have somebody turn the key to on (not start) and put your ear by the tube to hear if the pump hums or runs this primes the prior to starting
I think i should be a pump.

Fuel filter cloged, fuel pump (ceck voltage, pressure),fuel line cloged (air pressure cleaning),Rare:blocked breather, tank cap(make vacuum, the fuel cant get pumped to engine)

Runs rough, wont start at proper timing setting

usually when the camaro runs rough that could be bad fuel injectors-o2sensor and fuel filter-thats my guess i had the same problem and i put bad gas in and the fuel filter went bad

I have a 98 chevy silverado 1/2 ton 5.7L motor. My truck will only start after I turn the key over and over to allow the fuel pump to run. I sometimes do it 10 times before it actually starts. After its on...

The problem may be that it has 55 psi instead of 60-65. Could be the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel pump itself. I have read that these engines need 60 psi minimum to start reliably. Also with the engine off, look down the throttle body with a flashlight and see if the intake appears wet inside, indicating leaking central injectors. There is an upgraded injector assembly available with pressure regulator at autoparts stores. Requires 4-5 hours to replace with experienced mechanical skill level. Would definately upgrade if the pressure regulator needs replaced anyway.
