I have the same problem: my control keys (both of them) are not working. At first one worked and then the other worked, but not both don't work.

Has anyone figured out the solution?

    Thanks

Drivers wont help it seems to me you might have a broken line sometimes common in second hand laptops where keyboards have been removed time after time its a plastic ribbon cable which slots into an interface socket on the mainboard, you could get somebody to check that the cable hasnt been pulled out of the slot,or if liquid was spilled then a replacement keyboard is then the way to go.

Letter between c and b wont work! its the paste code key also and I dont recall using it to paste anything Whmat's your problem?

Of course, it wont work because you used a wrong short cut key. The correct short cut command for copying is press the control C simultaneously then for pasting it, it should control V simultaneously. Try it again using the right short cut command. Good luck!

Toshiba Portege M780 - THe F10 light is on & the keyboard won't work. I have tried hitting Fn F10 to toggle but it does nothing.

Press the Fn-F10 combination to deactivate the overlay keyboard (numerical pad). The Fn key is the one to the right of the Left CTRL key.

Where is my Dell computers Command key?

The Command Key is only found in Mac computers. It gives shortcuts to common commands by using the keyboard. The Control Key (CTRL) gives the same function in Windows computers. Therefore, the Command Key on Dell computers or any other windows-based computer is the Control Key (CTRL).
For Example...
  1. CTRL + C = Copy
  2. CTRL + V = Paste
  3. CTRL + S = Save
  4. CTRL + X = Cut
  5. CTRL + Shift Key + S = Save As

Sounds like the CTRL key has a short and is pressing itself without your knowledge. Try replacing the keyboard.

Installing XP on Toshiba Portege R500 Notebook

Guys, if you have the genuine XP CD, please download the Storage Driver from Intel and slipstream it into your version of XP CD. You can also slipstream Service Packs into it as well.
Personally I hate Vista so much. It really brings out the angry devil in me.
By the way, the best and easiest way to slipstream is to install and use nLite http://www.nliteos.com/
Let me know if you want help on installing XP on R500 (I build it a few days ago, but regret to update the BIOS to version 1.06 as I lost the Ctrl key on it).
To get to the BIOS, press and hold the Esc key then Power button.
