Question about Jenn-Air JED8430 Electric Cooktop

1 Answer

The fan runs and then shuts off. The light on one dial ''blew''

When cooking, the light ''popped'' and went out. The fan only is on ''high'', then turns off.

I need to know what color wire goes with what other wire.

The white wire from the stove top goes to the green wire or nuteural, the red and black go to the hot wires I had the white wire from the stove top going to the hot wire and I had the same problem as you. am lucky I did not burn up my motor.

Cook top indicator lights stay on long after it has cooled off. The largest cook circle sometimes doesn't reduce heat when the dial is changed

Cook top indicator light will stay on as long as the stove is hot I think. Also, the burners don't heat real steady? or evenly or true to their settings even, quite often. they also take a really long time to cool down as well as to adjust temperatures, so it may just be that it is taking an awfully long time for it to cool down in order to adjust.

I used my grill for the first time, & the downdraft didn't work we'll, the house filled with smoke & eventually the downdraft shut off and I had to finish cooking in a pan. My Jenn-Air is...

The downdraft is electric so there must be something malfunctioning with it. It is a high volume downdraft fan that is to be vented to the outside. Could it be that something has clogged the vent hole up, not allowing the fan to evacuate the smoke?

While I am not a big fan of Jenn-Air, their fans are usually high quality if they are installed correctly, with the proper vent lines.

Solid element cooking top slow in heating up

It sounds like you have lost 1 leg of 220V power to the unit. Chances are, one of the elements shorted to ground, then blew itself open.

Find the breaker or fuse box, and reset/replace breakers/fuse. If it blows again, you'll have to locate which element is bad, or where the short is.

I can help more once I know if there was a breaker trip, or fuse was blown. I will also need to know if it is one element, or all the elements., that exhibit the same problem. I can instruct you on identifying the bad element as well, and replacement elements are available.
