Does your linksys router have the quick connect button? its the white cisco emblem on front of the router. Its also a button on the newer routers. push that button and it will configure it all for you.

Will the Linksys wireless router model G WRT54GS work with a computer equipped with windows 7.

There should not be a problem with a computer running 7 and the router. The one thing you will have to worry about is if the wireless card in your computer will have 7 support. I know if you have a 32-bit (x86) installed, you won't have any issues. Just be sure you update the drivers for it. If you have the 64-bit version, check with manufacturer to see if they have 64-bit support for the wireless.

Good luck.

Need lynksys installation cd, do you know where I can find it?

You download the software needed to configure your Linksys wireless router from Linksys website.

If you have version 7.2 click below
http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/WRT54G-v7.2_Setup_Wizard,0.zip

If you have version 7.0 click below
http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/WRT54Gv7-EU_v7_00_4,0.zip

Take your pick.

Router not connecting

The problem here is that the WRT54GS is an old model, so naturally the installation CD is also old. This is especially a problem if you are running Vista. I ran into the same problem when I was installing my wireless card; my computer would detect it on boot up, but when I installed the drivers from the CD, it said the card wasn't plugged in.

The solution would be to download the lastest installation and driver files from the LinkSys website and use those instead of the installation CD that came with it. You may have to hunt for it, as some companies would rather push new products than update older ones, but since the router is still on the market, they should have the updated drivers and installation files.

Where can I get another installation CD?

You more than likely do not need an installation CD to get this router running. For what it's worth, you can download specs, firmware upgrades, etc from the following link:

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1166859761879&packedargs=sku%3DWRT54GS&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=6187945678B01&displaypage=download#versiondetail

Hope this helps.
