Hampton Bay remote won't dim or turn off light

The remote has worked fine until a few weeks ago. The remote will turn fan on and off change speed but there is not light control. Have two remotes same thing. The wall switch will cut power to both. Any suggestions. Replaced batteries in both remotes.

Me too, my fan works just fine but the light wont respond. for me the light wont turn on.  I used a voltmeter and it says that it is getting 73.7 volts wether it is on, dimmed, or off.

If you are looking to lower your fan speed, I suggest getting an adjustable wall switch that will limit the current to the settings. I have the same situation, I myself didn't do it but I know it is possible. In my bedroom, I have my ceiling fan wired to a turn knob switch, a dimmer so to speak, that limits the elctrical current, thus slowing the rpm's of the fan blades.

Yes, it's working! Moves more air because the blades are longer and have concave shape.

The best place to start with would be Home Depot. Since it is only a couple of weeks old you should have no problem exchanging it. This is their brand. They have a very liberal return and exchange program which should help you out.

Hello burrow31. There maybe a switch located on the fan stating 'remote/manual'. Check your manual. Remove the battiers in your remote and short out the battery contact terminals. Reinstall the battiers, start the fan and after fan has reached set speed press & hold fan speed button for one second. Still no speed change contact the Mgfr. with model & serial #.

When you had the batteries out of the remote, did you press all the buttons to be sure one is not stuck? Also, this could be a button failure.

You called customer care about a Hampton Bay & they sent you Minka Aire??? Hampton Bay is a store brand for Home Depot. If The fan came with a remote, you probably need the one for your fan.

nothing wrong with the power supply, or the remote, the speed switch in the fan is faulty, as it is more finiky than a manual speed change(like with a cable)

I have a solution for you. Call 1-866-600-FANS(3267) and give them the numbers on the side of the receiver. Example: 7067FM-22 (6+5) Variations of this receiver are used by many different manufacturers including Hampton Bay,Emerson,Minka Aire, etc... There is a web site that shows a few examples of this receiver available. http://www.fanmanlighting.com
P.S. It helps to know if your Ceiling Fan has a 2nd light above the fan or reverses direction from the transmitter.

Diminished light

When our 2-year-old niece got hold of our Hampton Bay fan remote, we learned from her actions that holding down the button that controls the upper or lower light will, after a pause, either brighten or dim that light. Our fan is older than yours, but perhaps yours works the same way?
