Dell c521 won't start

Dell c521 seems to fail POST test. Yellow power light on steady, fans running. No diagnostic # lights on. BUT network symbol light on and yellow light on back at ethernet connection is also on. Could this be problem with network card?? Cannot disconnect as it is built in to MB??

Any ideas??

Do not want to start, yellow light on and fan on only.

At a glance it seems that your MOBO is bad.But also can be the power supply.

To better troubleshoot your issue take a look at the 4 diagnostic lights on the back of your PC, they will give you more information and possible solutions. HERE is the link to what the lights mean on your model PC.
Diagnostic Codes Your computer is equipped with four diagnostic lights, which are labeled "A," "B," "C," and "D" on the back of the computer. Each of the four lights can be yellow, green, or off as shown in the following table. When the computer is turned on or restarted and it is functioning normally, the lights flash during POST. After the computer starts, the lights remain green to signify normal computer operation.
If a malfunction is detected and the computer fails to start, the lights display a code that identifies the problem. Write down the diagnostic code displayed and look it up in the following table.

Have a dell dimension 4700 with orange steady light?

Turn the machine off and unplug the AC power then hold the power button in for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power. Plug it back in and turn it on, when you see the Blue DELL word press CRL+ALT+D and this should run a diagnostic on the hard drive. If it runs ok you will get a pass or fail on the hard drive. If you cannot get the diags to run you might have a bad power supply or motherboad/processor. I would find a known good power supply and try it before the motherboard.

what is the color of the LED ight on the power button? if it is a steady amber it might be a NO POST situation. if the LED lights up normally without the fan spinning and no display on the monitor, then it is a NO VIDEO issue. you can try to power it up and at the same time initiating diagnostics by holding down the <Fn> key while powering on the system. It should show up after a few seconds with the PSA (Pre-Boot System Assessment running.
another way of testing for video integrity will be the LCD BIST. it is done by holding down the <D> button on the keyboard while powering the system on. It should show color bars during the test. you can also try to drain the flea power by removing battery and the adapter then depressing the power button several times.
if those fail, then a motherboard replacement will be the best resolution.

Cannot start up the dell c521, fan is loud and light is orange.

What you are describing is a no post failure. Disconnect all external devices, see if anything changes. if not, replace the motherboard

Motherboard change

check on system lights... what are the diagnostic lights telling you??
if the 4 lights are off you may have a problem with the led itself or the powersupply is just messing with your head.

Pover up trouble

sounds like something is drawing down on your 12 volt supply drives or on board regulators. Try it without the drives connectged, and see if you can get the system to boot up(you'll just get a notice that your drives are unavailable, but you'll already know that, right?

got backup for your Dell?
