Hi, my roger black cross trainer has developed a really loud squeak. I have put grease on the visible parts on the arm and foot joints to no joy. Any ideas?

You need to isolate the noise by listening with a stethoscope, a sonoscope or something similar to discover which is the noisy joint (are you sure it is the machine and not one of your joints?).

If a joint has no running clearance there will be no room for grease or oil and the joint might have to be dismantled and eased before lubricant will have a chance to work. This isn't unusual where metal and plastic meet as although durable, plastic isn't the most stable of materials.

How does a cv joint drive shaft goes bad

cv joints are covered with a plastic/rubber boot to keep the road dirt out and lubricating grease in''the inner works of a cv joint are an alloy metal with honeycomb chambers for the joint bearings to fit inside of..do this.. take your left hand and make a fist..then fit the fist into the spread open fingers of the right hand ..rotate both hands together back and forth..your ncv axle turns in much the same way..when dirt gets into the joint due to cover failure..this joint wears out because it has engine torque(twisting) pressure on it while moving..along with grit and dirt grinding away at both the metal and the bearings inside causing lots of slop in the joint..now if the engine torque becomes too strong for the worn out chambers in the joint, they will break..remember they arent steel,,they are alloy..thus rendering the joint unuseable ( slip your left hand inside the right between the fingers to grt the idea.. thats what the cv joint on your car is doing...so replacement is necessary..its not an easy job since most cars front suspension is opened up during this proceedure,,,car is ten years old do you feel that its worth the money? call for rates first...good luck and repost findings thnx

Hi, I have a wonderful Maytag speckled black smooth top stove. Over Christmas someone caused a big (2 " diameter) stain. I've tried everything to get it out. is it possible to have a new ceramic...

Ceramic cooktop cleaning tips - especially for 2-in difficult-to-remove stain:
Best Idea: "Cerama Bryte" + plastic scrubbie
Cerama Bryte is specifically designed for this cooktop, works on stains, avail at Hardware Stores.

Other ceramic cooktop tips:
1. "Soft Scrub" plasic scrubbie
2. Comet cleanser + sponge
3. Single-edge razor blade held at 45-degree angle - scrapes off material
4. "Cook Top" cleaner (WalMart) + Mr. Clean "Magic Eraser" abrasive pad
5. baking soda on damp sponge
6. soak stain for awhile with Formula 409, Fantastic, or citrus degreaser ("Orange Clean")
7. ammonia + water - in a 1:1 solution
8. Easy Off oven cleaner - it foams on the stain and does the work for you - let it sit 20 min.
9. the nuclear option:
Cerama Bryte under a plastic scrubbie under an orbital sander with sandpaper removed
(just the pad down on top of the scrubbie), after pre-soaking in Citrus Degreaser.
The sander is a power tool which only saves your joints, and speeds up the chore.

Freezer/refrig not cooling properly. all coils

If you (or someone you know) is competent at soldering, you may be able to fix this without a pro (nor replacement part).

At the rear of the fridge is a metal panel at top left behind which is the motherboard. If the problem is intermittent - e.g., slamming the door yields a loud 'click' and you hear the compressor start, chances are great that the problem is a bad solder joint on the relay that switches between defrost and compressor modes. (It seems to default to defrost mode.)
Unplug the fridge!
Remove the metal panel. (1/4" hex wrench or socket set req'd.)
Gently and carefully (wiggle and) remove all molex connectors from the circuit board. (There'll be 5 or more, possibly depending upon how many extra features your fridge model has.)
Use a suitable tool - needle nose pliers or strong tweezers - to squeeze the plastic stand-offs with which the board is mounted to the fridge.
Remove the board from the fridge. (Note: it may be easier to remove the connectors at the right of the board AFTER the board is lifted off the stand-offs.)
Look at the solder-side of the board.
You'll almost certainly see charring around a particular solder joint that belongs to the large, sort of T-shaped relay (black box) on the board.
Clean up the carbon with alcohol.
Scrape away some of the (green) coating on the copper trace around the pin that comes throught the board from the relay. (This will entail removing some of the acrylic clear coat with which the board has been sealed.)
Resolder the joint.
Clean up any flux residue.
Reinstall the board - right-hand connectors first, if necessary (i.e., before mounting the board on the stand-offs).
Replace the metal panel.
Plug the fridge in.
Listen to that relaxing buzz of relief...(and $100-$200 savings).
CAUTIONS: 1) Make sure you NOTE and/or remember which connector goes where on the board BEFORE you remove it.

GTS22KBMBRWW GE refrigerator; the compresser does not come on, no indicator light for freezer compartment. Indicator light on for the bottom section.

Due to the compressor not coming on , this is an indication of a bad main control board . Part number WR55X10942 . Occasionally , if you remove the board ( behind the 8"X10" panel , on the back of the refrig ) , and look on the soldered side , just behind the small black boxes , you'll see a spot , which has become unsoldered . You can re-solder this spot , and the compressor will run . If you do not see the spot , then the module is bad , and the control board will have to be replaced .

Switch diagram needed

Funny, I came here because I just opened up the switch case on my MM875. Hold the switch so the terminals are on top. Call the black switch (the part you push in to power up the mower) north. The north post gets white (metal connector). The west post gets red (plastic connector). The east post gets the black that comes from the mower's motor (plastic connector). The south post gets the black that comes from the outlet (metal connector)
(Black Plastic Switch)
White (Metal)
Red (Plastic) Black (Plastic--from motor))
Black (Metal--from outlet)

A lake of water

anyone else w/ this problem: cheap workmanship = cheap, malfunctioning machine. turn it upside down, unscrew the 4 screws w/ metal washers and the six screws with out washers from the base of the housing. once removed, you can see that cheap metal clamps are used around the plastic hoses which supply water from resevoir to steamer & brewhead via the pump. either length of hose above pump or below pump has come loose or pump is fauly or there is a hole in a tube. good luck!
