If you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules. first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system

hope it helps

SOURCE: i always have failure to boot and have beep

1-Does your computer show any sign of response after power button press?
2-Is your power cable properly connected and have main power switched on both your power supply unit and the wall plug?
3-Is the 20/24-pin ATX power connector has been connected between your motherboard and power supply?
4-Can The standby power LED (Green blue) light up continuously after the mains power is connected? (Note: Both flashing and off are no good here)

Fix 1

(1) Isolate The power going into your system ( i.e. connect your system to the wall plug directly, without sharing the power with any other devices via power extension cable.)
(2) Check if the power supply and power cable functions correctly, and have the input of your power supply set to the correct position (either 100/110V or 220/240V, depending on your country)
(3) Please try replacing your power supply.

Fix 2

1. No POST

1.1 Please clear CMOS to have a try (refer to motherboard manual for details)

1.2 If the problem still persists, please contact your retailer for a check

2. There is error message during POST: BIOS ROM checksum error. Detecting floppy drive A media... Insert system disk and press enter

2.1 If the support CD supplied with motherboard is available

2.1.1 Please restart system and put support CD into optical drive, then the system will recover BIOS automatically using CrashFree utility

2.2 If the support CD supplied with motherboard is not available

2.2.1 Prepare a formated floppy disk, then unzip the BIOS file downloaded from ASUS website into the floppy disk.

2.2.2 Please restart system and insert the floppy disk into floppy drive, then the system will recover BIOS automatically using CrashFree utility
2.3 If it is not helpful after the troubleshooting as the steps 2.1 or 2.2, please clear CMOS( referring to the manual introduction)

Fix 3

Please try the latest BIOS. I recommend you to use AFUDOS to update BIOS. You need to unzip it to get the ROM file.

You should use the command as follows:

AFUDOS /i[biosname]

or, afudos /i A:\BIOSNAME.rom(if the BIOS file is in the floppy disk)

You can store your BIOS into a floppy disk or a hard disk with FAT format. Then, you will be able to use AFUDOS to access the BIOS ROM file.

If it is not convenient for you to use DOS and AFUDOS, you can try to use EZ Flash. You can save the BIOS file into a flash disk then boot the system and enter BIOS, then you can update your BIOS by EZ Flash which is in the BIOS Tools page. Please load the default settings in BIOS after you have succeeded updating BIOS.

Fiteed new quad core CPU and 4gb of Ram, when started up getting no signal detected on the monitor. Can anyone help?

Let's back up a second.

A) What HP model is it? (P/N. Product Number. Back of desktop computer tower)
B) What model number of Intel quad core is it?
C) What are the manufacturer ID number/letters on the ram memory module/s?

I need to know what Northbridge chip is used on the motherboard, to know if it will support the particular Intel quad core you're trying to use.
This I can hopefully obtain from HP Support, by looking at the specifications for the motherboard.

(This technology does not apply to motherboards that support the Intel Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, and Core i9 processors)

The Northbridge chip is part of the motherboard chipset.
So aptly named, because on a desktop computer motherboard it sits to the 'North', for one.
(Under the Processor)

[ Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_Circuit

The Northbridge chip handles the faster capabilities of the computer.
It handles the Processor, Ram Memory, and High-speed graphics.

AGP and PCI-Express are high-speed graphics technology.
A graphics card plugged into a PCI slot, and Integrated Graphics, is Not high-speed graphics.

The Southbridge chip handles the slower capabilities of the computer.

Motherboard Diagram;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Motherboard_diagram.svg

List of Intel Chipsets, and more specifically the one's that can handle Intel quad core processors,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Core_2_chipsets

Secondly;
Make sure the Ram Memory you installed is Compatible.
If the motherboard supports 4GB of ram, make sure it is in the correct ram slots if using two sticks of ram, or four sticks.

There HAS to be a ram memory module ('Stick') in Slot 1. (DIMM 1)
EACH ram memory slot has a Maximum Amount.

For example if there are 4 ram slots, and the Maximum Total Amount of ram memory is 4GB, each ram slot may have a maximum of 1GB.
It may, or may not be that you can use Slot 1 and Slot 2, and use two 2GB sticks.

Third:
Always go slow when upgrading.
Install the Processor first, boot the computer up, see how it works.

THEN shut the computer down, unplug from power, observe Anti-Static Precautions, and install 2GB of ram memory.

Works?
Install the other 2GB.
BIOS has to recognize the changes.

Fourth:
Are you sure your Power Supply is adequate to support the quad core, and the added ram memory?

Post back in a Comment.

Compatability

You have an AGP expansion slot for a graphics card.
(Accelerated Graphics Port)
It uses either 1x, 2X, or 4X graphics cards. Since the only AGP graphics cards out there are 4X or 8X, the 1X, and 2X are moot points. (They were also Junk anyway!)

Your AGP graphics slot only supports AGP graphics cards that are 1.5 volts. There are AGP graphics cards out there, that are Universal. Universal in that they will run as AGP 8X, (.8 volts), or AGP 4X, (1.5 volts)

This is an example:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4103516&CatId=318

Don't expect to play the high end new intense games with this. I'm afraid you'll have to update your motherboard, processor, ram memory, and a better graphics card to do that.

(Example? XFX Nvidia nForce 680i LT SLI motherboard, Intel Core2 Duo E8200 cpu, Corsair XMS2 PC6400 ram memory, 1GB x2 of them, (DDR2 at 800MHz), and XFX Geforce 9800GTX+, vid card. (Plus OCZ SteathXStream 600W power supply)
This won't break the bank, and will slam some games to the wall!)
