Question about Canon CanoScan 4400F Flatbed Scanner
Running Mac 10.4.11, trying to install CanoScan 4400F. Installation says successful and restarts. But after opening PhotoStudio and clicking the Acquire icon or anything else I get a message that The aplication PhotoStudio quit unexpectedly. I click "Reopen" then "Try again" etc. The scanner light comes on but I cannot scan anything. Help please.

uninstall all drivers and software that cam with the scanner, and then try installing the software again before connection the scanner... this is a problem when there are two different twain drivers, look for C:\Windows\twain_32\CNQ4803(2) see if there is a driver in there.

Try going to CanoScan Toolbox > Settings and reset the 'defaults' button at bottom... this will restore factory settings and hopefully fix your problem... The other error message you can expect to get is "unable to scan - insufficent memory, check your **** space' (or something similar)... same fix works for both! ...Have had both messages on mine, sounds like a semi-regular conflict on some sort, but seems to be easily fixed. FIRST PART: DELETING OLD LiDE DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE
HD:/Library/Image Capture/Twain Data Sources
delete the CanoScan CanoScan XXXX.ds file
(Make note of any other files that may be in this folder. If other files are present, move them to the desktop for now. Then place them back after successfully using the scanner.)
delete the 'CanoScan XXXX' folder
delete the folders containing the name CanoScan, or starting with CNQL.
delete the CanoScan Toolbox Application
delete any items named "CanoScan Toolbox"
SECOND PART: MAKING YOUR SCANNER WORK
CanoScan LiDE 50 and LiDE 35 work both with the 35 driver:
CanoScan LiDE 60 driver:
VueScan 9.2 (or later) x32 for Mac OS X
Alternative to VueScan: CanoScan Toolbox. I prefer VueScan.
Try your luck with Version 4 or Version 5.
CanoScan Toolbox 4: cstbosx4934ej4.dmg
CanoScan Toolbox 5: cstbosx5014ej4.dmg
(Alternatively try and install CanoScan Toolbox 4 or 5)
