Question about 3Com SuperStack II 3300 SM Networking Switch

1 Answer

High activity? Looking at the switch, you would think it was locked up. Both lights are on, but they do not blink. The switch operates, but extremely slowly. I am trying to do a multicast via Zenworks imaging and I only have 3 clients connected to it, usually we have upwards of 5 and experience speeds better than this. Thanks, mike

Re: High activity?

Hello Mike, Are you able to log into the web interface of the product and see the data statistics for the ports? This switch has a web management interface, so I'd advise logging into that to see what's actually happening to each port. Take a look at that and get back to me with your findings. If you find that you can't access the web interface, there may be another issue we need to look at. Let me know how you get on. Thanks reaxion

Serial into it and power it on. As soon as it says it is loading hold down space bar. That will get you into the boot

If your are referring to the activity lights, they are controlled by the switch firmware. You can not really administrate.

My SUMMIT 48Si will not work in console mode. The MGMT light is on constant Any thoughts?

Sounds like the management port is active. I'm sure there is a command to disable that. Not sure what it is by memory.

I have a switch Dlink (DES-3026). All the status LEDs are blinking together with orange color. Is there any problem in that?

Blinking LEDs show data activity (Send & Receive) at the connected ports. So, there is no problem as long as the switch is performing well

Good Luck!

When i plug it in with out anything plugged into it it automatically starts blinking select green lights is there anything i can do to fix this?

The all lights will starts blinking everytime the switch is powered ON.
This is normal process as the switch is checking the status of all its ports during startup.

Please wait for 5-10 minutes this activity will completed and the port lights will not blink if nothing is connected.

If it still blinks without anything connected to the ports then you need to ask the vendor for a replacement.

My linksys network switch is not connecting network computer, what can i do to get it back to work?

Do you have any activity lights on the Linksys? If not your switch has no power a hardware problem. Try to power off for 5 seconds and restore power on the Linksys unit. Try to shut down (do not restart) all computers. Are all the activity lights off? If not again power off the Linksys for five seconds and restore power. Power on the computers and verify the activity lights are now green for each computer. If the computers are not networked and the activity lights are green, check your network settings on your computers, which could have incorrect TCP/IP settings or workgroup. If one activity light is not green for that Ethernet connection, check your cable connection or replace the Ethernet cable. The workgroup should all be the same name. The TCP/IP address should be the same with the exception of the last set of host digits which should be unique to each computer address.

Blinking light on NetGear FS108

One LED is a Link light that will blink on activity.
The other shows link speed.
These boxes have AutoUplink negotiation so no crossover cables are required.
Test again with a standard straight though ethernet / CAT5 cable.

Link and activity lights on 3Com Switch ports without connection

Do the ports work when the cables are connect?  I did some re-search and this seems to be an ongoing issue with 3com switches.  It should not effect the use of the switch
