I have a similar problem, i can hear the power come on but the screen remains black. Did you ever find a solution to your problem?

  • alojas Dec 24, 2008

I have been having the same problem, first it was just about 10-15 sec that it wouldn't come on...now 3 weeks later it is almost 5 min before the picture comes on, and the sound on certain channels will not work unless you turn the tv off and on real quick...seems like TV is going downhill fast and it is only a little over a year old...

Exactly the same problem, do you think it's worth paying an engineer to repair it?

  • Anonymous Jan 11, 2009

any solutions? is there someone to call?

  • carled Jan 11, 2009

Mine is stuck in power up mode as well...it will not come on.

  • laff_aloud Jan 14, 2009

    same problem here as well

  • GoOwnIt Jan 18, 2009

I brought mine into the shop and they wanted to replace the entire circuit board to the tune of about $350.  Instead, I went to Costco and bought a Vizio 32" for $379 with a two year Costco Warranty.

I wish I could find someone to work on it since I hate to junk it if it is fixable or part it out for someone else.

I had the same problem. Take the back off the TV.....disconnect power supply first....
You probably will find a cooling fan on the right side that is froze up. Get a Strong vacuum, clean it until it turns freely. The TV will now work unless you have other problems.

Medion lcd hd 31.5 inch tv won't turn on

I bought one also from ALDI for my son's Xbox 360, it is only 3 weeks in use and I have the same problem. The red led is on, indicating that it is in standby mode and recieving power but I can't turn it on either by pressing the power on button on the TV it's self or the on button on the remote. This started happening a few days ago and it's totally random. I found that if you unplug the TV from the power point or alternatively switch off the power point for a minute, than power it on again it will "WORK AGAIN" for a while. Like I said it is random, eventually it will return to the not being able to be switched on state at which time you will have to repeat the process. So thus, this is not really a solution. I am about to return the TV for a refund, and it's a shame because otherwise it's not too bad. and looks OK too.

It sounds to me like it's stuck in service mode. There is a button combination with the remote to return it to normal. I would call Vizio support and they should be able to help you.

I think it's a combination like [volume -], [channel -] and power but I could be wrong.

I finally managed to solve this problem by unplugging everything - scarts - HDD cables - power etc and left it for an hour. When I turned it back on again the problem had sorted itself out.

WONT TURN ON

Most likely, the problem is a defective Main Processor Board. This is the board with the antenna, RCA and HDMI plugs. You cant repair or replace component parts on this board, so dont even try. You must replace the complete board. The TV says Sylvania, but it is a bloody Funia TV. Several years ago this foreign company bought out broke-azzz Sylvania . They are still carrying the Sylvania name since Sylvania was a popular TV name in the 70s. Every electronic company in the USA is now owned by the Chinese, so call Funai and order the part from them. Dont be surprise if they dont have a clue what the heck you asking for. America and all electronics have gone to the puddles. Do you know why? GREED.

My emerson tv standby light is on the power light flashes twice

Mine stayed in stanby mode and all I had to do was to switch the plug to a different outlet. The power strip it was on wasn't providing enough power. It worked fine for a month before I had a problem.

This set has a modification that needs to be done. It will also start turning on by itself and changing channels rapidly. It's two weeks old. Take it back to the Retailer or if that is not an option contact LG at 1-800-243-0000 to get a local servicer in your area.
