In most cases you can remove the back of the TV and get up inside the cabinet to clean the mirror. Windex works great on any glass mirror, but if it is mylar, a less harsh cleaner is better. If you have a newer digital type projection, you will likely have to go in through the screen to get to the mirror and it is much more difficult. I can instruct more depending on type and model of tv.

SOURCE: Cleaning mirrors and lenses on Sony big-screen projection TV

it's fairly easy to remove the screws on the back bottom portion of any rear-projector television. when the bottom part is removed, you will see both the mirror and the 3 lens. isopropyl alcohol or windex should do an efficient job. a soft lens rag can be found at any camera store. i'd spray the lens rag instead of the actual lens or mirror when doing this job.

SOURCE: How do you clean the mirror?

It's been a while since I faced one of these, but I believe the bezel around the screen pulls off to expose the screen mounting screws. As I recall it is held on by snap fasteners. It's also possible there is a snap-on trim strip between the screen bottom edge and the speaker grille. If that's the case, remove that to expose screws securing the bottom of the screen. Once they're out the screen swings up and off. Zenith used a couple of methods on different models.

I have a magnavox big screen tv the picture is pretty dull. I was wondering how i can fix that problem

First try cleaning the mirror and the tops of the picture tubes. If this doesn't help, you'll probably have to change out the CRT coolant.
good luck

I have a toshiba 50inch rear progetion tv. I was

There is one mirror inside. It is easy to remove the front plastic screen by removing the bottom fabric grill (snaps off by pulling outward like a removable speaker grill). Remove several wood screws along bottom edge of screen. Lift up the whole plastic screen frame and pull it away from the TV; but be careful with the control wires that go to the center panel, which snaps off the big screen frame easily. The mirror is right there.

Bog and dust on mirror....showing up on screen, how best to clean?

remove pointy screws out of back of screen ( 3 up each side and 4 across top). remove speaker grill, remove 4 screws from center cover. remove 4 screws from bottom of tv, disconnect wire bundle. lift screen up and off. clean mirror facing up and lens. Do NOT touch big mirrror, trust me. put it back together by sliding screen back on and making sure all edges are flush before putting screws back in. the pointy ones go in the back every other screw is flat. good luck, should only take about 5 minutes.

Good Day, jmkay;
I see no reason why you can't do this yourself, but unlike the pioneer you have to approach the Mit's from the back and will have to remove the back from the screen (sort of)....charge you battery and Good Luck, big IRISH.
