Same thing just happend to us too. I check for power and there is definitely power there. I think it may be the circuit board. Can anyone confirm?

same problem.  Maytag mav7000aww filled w/ water and then just died.  Won't run on any cycle.  I bailed out some water and even tried to refill and it won't do that either.  Seems to have lost all power.  Please advise.

In the course of troubleshooting my leak problem, I tipped the entire lid assembly back. I found the problem (I think) causing the leak was that my tub retaining screws had not been fully tightened. I had removed the tub a couple of months ago to troubleshoot/investigate a transmission issue which ended up being just the bearing. Apparently when I put it all back together I was too tired (or lazy) to fully tighten the screws. Anyway, during the effort to find that, the lid got tipped all the way back and all the detergent in the receptacle drained out the bottom. Initially I thought it would be a problem but I was able to complete two more loads with no problems and no more leakage but after I declared the thing all better and turned it over to the wife it naturally refused to work. My theory is that the detergent must have seeped into the works but I need a little guidance as to how to systematically check each of the components. Visual inspection showed no apparent water damage. The wiring diagram found inside the unit mentions a 10 amp fuse but I was unable to locate that. Any clues gang?

The part cost me more than $25 ($33 to be exact) but it absolutely didtake care of my problem. One quick note to anyone trying this. I madethe mistake of not reconnecting the tube to the water level sensor, mostly because I didn't notice that it had come off, but that led tothe first load my wife did flooding the garage. The tube is located onthe left side of the assembly and attaches to a cylinder on the tub anda small connector on the water level setting assembly. Needless to say,you REALLY want to be care with this if your machine is in the houseand not in the garage like mine. Like I said I did not disconnect thisthing on purpose, it came loose on its own as I was moving thecontroller assembly around.

Ok, I figured it out, at least my problem.  The short answer is that you need to replace the lid switch assembly, maytag mav7000aww part no. 12001908.
To verify you have the same problem as I do, remove the rear cover to the control panel (three philips head screws and two machine bolts, see http://www.partselect.com/ModelFrames.aspx?ModelID=117917&ModelNum=MAV7000AWW&mfgModelNum=&ManufactureID=1&Selected=52442&Position=2&mfg=Maytag&Type=&Mark=2 no. 14.)  Use a volt meter to verify that you have power coming into the lid switch assembly harness (black wire).  Use the volt meter to verify that you have no power coming out of the lid switch assembly harness (red and yellow wires.)
To further verify that you have the same problem as I do, remove the wire harness from the lid switch assembly and use a ohm meter to verify that the switch is not allowing power transmission.  In the lid closed position (lid switch depressed), use ohm meter to test line-to-motor and line-to-machine connections.
If you verify that you have no power down-circuit of the lid switch assembly using the two methods above, then you have my problem.  In this case, you can purchase the part noted at top for less than $25.

How to fix a errow ob on maytag washing machine

OB is an out of balance load error, try re-distributing the clothing and see if it helps, also make sure the machine is level, if this doesn't help there may be a fault with the out of balance switch or lever.

Maytag centennial washer not working properly in Normal cycle. After it shuts off there is still water in the bottom of the tub. I can move the dial to another setting such as Casual cycle or Heavy Duty...

We have the same problem. The Normal cycle still works, but after the final spin cycle, water is again added (1 gal est.) and the machine stops. Problem occurred after washing an old 25 x 30 inch rug which partially disentegrated when washed. We were seeing particles of the rug in subsequent wash cycles during drain into laundry tub. Don't know if something is plugged in the washer or if it is something else. In another load after the rug wash, the top of the washer was lifted during the wash cycle. The water problem occurred immediately after lifting the lid as the wash load went through remaining cycles. Maybe this affected the timer? Maytag customer service suggested unplugging power cord to re-set timer. This didn't make any difference. We need a technician to tell us if this is a timer problem or something else?
