Don't know how to download my pictures thru my computer.

I've read the booklet and tried following it word for word. Still nothing. I've even tried the other three USB Ports and still nothing.

Much easier to just buy a multi-card reader, Then you can transfer back and forth to the computer, Without damaging the camera.TC

A multi-card reader is a devise the plugs in the same place as your camera (USB) and only cost anywhere From$10.00 to $20.00 and is saver and faster than the camera, And you leave it plugged in all the time, And will take all the cards on the market so if you buy diff camera or have diff cards from diff cameras in the family!! You can down lode images back and forth from the computer. TC

If you decide to reset the numbers, your camera will start numbering the new pictures from 000 all over again. This can cause problems when you try to download because your computer will think you've already downloaded pics with those numbers. Don't reset....your camera will continue to number the pics consecutively even after you download and empty the card.

If you have a memory card reader, insert that in your computer and download Recuva from Piriform's website. Its a free download unless you want to pay for premium support.

You should be able to recover any lost photos from the memory card and copy them to the computer. Then you can reformat the card to see if that resolves your problem.

Also you may want to see if you can take a photo without the memory card, and if that works you know its a memory card issue.

You can download a PDF manual from
http://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16310/kw/L19/r_id/116678

You can order a printed manual from
http://shop.nikonusa.com/store/nikonusa/en_US/pd/productID.215420400

You can download the current versions of all (free) Nikon software from
http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

Lost software

Hello
Windows can handle downloading from a digital camera without necessarily loading the software for the camera. Just follow these steps.

1. Connect your camera thru a USB cord to the computer and switch the camera on. The computer should be able to identify it. Some digital cameras get recognized if they are on play/edit mode rather than on taking picture position.

2. Follow the screen instructions to download the pictures to your computer.

3. If nothing happens with 1 & 2 above then go to START and MY Computer and double click that icon.

4. A screen showing all drives connected to your computer will appear including D or E whatever the case maybe where your camera is connected identifying your camera by name.

5. Double click the icon with your camera connection and the software will start reading the contents of your camera and then you follow instructions on the screen.

6. The pictures on your camera will then be displayed on the window and then you can mark all or some of them for downloading to the computer.

I hope this solves your problems, if not please advise accordingly

Hi,

You can download the instruction booklet in PDF format by clicking this link.

On the page which opens, click on the "Download" button to download and save the manual.
  • You'll require Adobe PDF Reader installed on your computer to view the manual. If it is not already installed on your computer, download it free from: http://get.adobe.com/reader/
Thanks for using FixYa.

How do you get the dates on the photos to download?

Well, you don't say what camera you are using but all the data is included with the picture as "metadata". This can be opened by many photo editing programs simply by right-clicking and choosing info.

I have the same problem. Fine one day and a black screen the next. I called Vivtar and they were no help. They wanted me to send it in and let them repair it at my expense. don't think so. everything works perfect on the camera...but the screen is black and so are the pictures. Good Luck!

XD Card Not Read by Computer

Hi cruyf, It sounds as if the data (pictures) on your memory card has become corrupted. There are lots of programs that claim to be able to recover deleted files. These are corrupted files so I?m not sure how well they will do. The first program I reference will show you what it can recover but if you want to get the images you have to pay $40 to activate the software. I?ve used this before and it worked for me but be aware there are lots of other programs, some free. Here is the link: http://www.diskinternals.com/products/deleted-data-recovery/ Here is another that claims to be able to recover both deleted and corrupted files: http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/uk/welcome.htm After you have pulled your pictures off the card (or if you give up) you should use the cameras format utility on the card before you use it again. I?ve had this problem on memory cards before and this has fixed my problem. Let us know how it goes and don?t forget to rate the posting.
