    Ok,
Did you install the Vista as an upgrade or did it completely replace the XP? As far as the viruses, yes they can transfer over to another computer if you try to transfer the files. What type of virus software are you using on the other computer? As far as the codes on the broadband, I need more clarification. Are you talking about turning your broadband back on as in like the cable company turned it off?
Also what type of laptop is this?

Boot from your XP CD, press F12 when DELL logo appears and insert XP CD and select Boot from CD from the menu. Select the partition Windows Vista is on and select Delete, then create a new partition on the drive using full capacity and follow the instructions to reinsall CP.

This will delete all data on the drive.

Disk Crash!

Borrow an operating system disk from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker to reinstall windows. Just borrow the version that your Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker on the bottom of the laptop says. Also make sure you can read the Product Key Code on the COA. Also get the product key code for the disk you borrow because sometimes during installation or activation it will ask for the Key that is on your sticker, and sometimes it wants the key from the installation disk.

Just make sure you borrow the same version of windows that your COA says is installed on your system otherwise you'll have problems activating it.

My laptop has no operating system on it

Borrow a reinstallation operating system disk or an operating system disk from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker. Just make sure it is the same as the operating system that your Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker on the bottom of the laptop or inside the battery case or you will have problems activating it. Make sure you can read your series of 5 letters and numbers on your COA sticker and also get them for the disk you are using on the install. Sometimes when it asks for the product key it wants the one from your sticker, sometimes it wants the one from the cd used to install.

If you COA Sticker says Windows Vista Home Premium, you can't use a Windows Vista Home Basic operating system disc to do the install.

Can i reset a Dell Precision 360 to factory without disks ?

Swapping disks that run on a different system will not work unless the systems are exactly alike (manufacturer's make and model).

Your best bet is to reinstall the operating system if you can read the Product Key Code (series of 5 letters and numbers) on the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker on the computer. You have to reinstall using the same version of the operating system. If the COA says Windows XP Pro, then you need to reinstall with a Windows XP Pro operating system disk otherwise when it comes time to activate and put in the product key code you'll have issues and it will never activate.

How to clean out and reinstall acer 6070 desktop

If you are talking about reinstalling windows it will clean out the old version for you. It will also remove all your data, documents, music, pictures, videos and programs. It will do a fresh install of the operating system.

You'll need an operating system disk that is the same version as the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker that is affixed to your computer. If your COA Sticker says Windows Vista Home Premium, you cannot use an operating system disk that says Vista Home Basic. If they don't match, when it comes time to activate windows it will not work. When you activate windows and it asks for your Key Code use the series of 5 letters and numbers that are on your COA Sticker not the one from the cd you used to install because you might have borrowed the cd.

I need Product Key of my PC

Did you have Windows XP Professional on your laptop before you downloaded it from the internet? If not, that's your first problem.

When you reinstall or download a operating system you must use the one that is on the Certificate Of Authentication (COA) Sticker on the bottom of your laptop or inside the battery case. That's your key on it (the series of 5 letters and numbers).

If you use someone else's disk to install or download like you did you must make sure that it is the same operating system as yours. In other words, if your COA says Windows XP Home, then you can't install Windows XP Professional because when it comes time to activate it will fail.

Borrow a operating system disk that is the same as your COA from neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and reinstall windows. When it asks for the key, use the key that is on your COA Sticker then it will activate.

If you have to take it to a computer repair shop they should install the operating system for $60 or less if you have a valid COA Sticker.

Toshiba laptop serial NO 76110651Q

Check the bottom of the laptop for a Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker which will tell what version of Windows XP it had and the Key Code (a series of 5 letters and numbers). If you have a copy of windows xp that is the exact same version as on the COA then you can install it and put in your keycode when requested and activate it. If your COA says Windows XP Professional you cannot use a Windows XP Home operating disk to reinstall.

How to install xp on acer laptop

You'll need a windows xp operating system disk. If you already have windows xp on the Acer then check the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker to see what version of windows xp it has. You'll have to have an operating system disk with the same version otherwise once it asks for the key to activate windows it will not activate. For Example, if your COA says Windows XP Professional you cannot install a Windows XP Home version unless you purchased the Home Version and the COA Key has never been used.

Insert the disk in the drive and just follow the instructions. It's pretty straight forward and simple.

I need a clean installation of Vista

If I understand this correctly, If you are using the system restore, it will maintain the last operating system install. When you went from XP to Vista, XP is totally gone. So your only option the will arraise it to restore system and if successful should be just fine.(I know that you mentioned it didn't work) you may have to do a total reinstall with Vista. If you can locate the disc.
Now the part that is left in a particitlon is as you thought...XP unless you formatted the whole drive what you installed VIstA in which case you will have nothing.
As long as you have a COA sticker on your computer you can borrow a disk from someone who has dell, and call the microsoft number and explain that you reformatted and use another copy to put it in and they will get you through the activation. Use the numbers on your sticker.
Good luck please leave rating.; thank you

For Laptops, Dell places the sticker with the product key on the bottom. It will be 5 sets of 5 letters and numbers, separated by a "-".

Reformat Of Acer Aspire 3680 Help

If all you need is to format the disk
  1. Insert your XP disk
  2. reboot you machine after cancelling all the installation set up details
  3. Follow the instructions that follow as if you are installing Xp afresh (install, Accept terms,) then choose drive to install XP on (the one with current XP or else others) press delete (D) and follow the instruction to accept
  4. After deleting choose Install XP and chose to format your disk the way you want Fast/Slow to FAT/NTFS
Please note formatting is deleting everything (EVERYTHING) on that disk preparing to store new information as a blank HDD i.e. you will lose everything on the disk viruses, bad stuff and all your valuable data on it
