Nikkai usb serial convertor - no driver

Nikkai USB to serial convertor instructions say that you don't need driver if using Vista - its allegedly plug and play. That unfortunately is not correct - it does, but Vista can't find the driver on the CD that came with the product and it won't work without one!!!. Can't find Nikkai Computers web site, can't find drivers online. Its a bit strange - product came from Maplins

I have the same problem with Nikkai USB serial converter 9 pins. Bought it from Maplin and have installed the driver that come with it but have an error message (code 34) " Windows cannot determine the setting for this device...bla..bla...bla".

I check on one of the website and it was advised to set the port settings to:

9600; 8; None; 1; Xon/Xoff .......however still not solving the problem. I used COM 6 as allocated automatically under General tab " Communication Port". Can anyone help advise the correct setting?

I use this port to transfer data from my laptop to Garmin GPS Etrex H.

    Hi,

I brought the Nikkai USB serial port adapter to connect my new Macbook pro to an ELISA plat reader we have in our lab.

I keep getting a serial port error message 'The  selected com port is not valid for this reader'.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I received an Anadigi GPS-206 for Christmas. It came with drivers, and a link in the instructions where other/updated drivers might be found. As nearly as I can tell, the device is functioning fine, but...

GPSdetected as a Serial-Mouse, Mouse Pointer jumping crazy. How to disable theSerial Mouse in Win OS: Some Windows OS (2000 or XP ....) will detect the usb GPS Receiveras a Serial Mouse. The mouse pointer keeps jumping crazy. It seems it is the USB Com-port conflictproblem. Some software will occupy the com-port even you have disconnected itshardware USB Cable. Uninstall all unused USB Devices' Driver. Even after un-install those not necessary USBDevice Driver, some may still occupy a com-port. Open the Window System Managerlogin the hardware table. If you found some com-ports are occupied by some unknowndevices just delete it. After that re-install the PL2303 driver: (USB to Serial Bridgedriver: http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID=31 ) Then test the GPS Receiver in differenceUSB port. (Don't use a USB Port Splitter.) Problem printing from Dell Inspiron 1720 with Vista Home Premium to Epson Stylus Colour 1160 using Nikkai USB to Parallel Convertor. Cable supposed to be plug and play. Any pointers?

You pretty much said it when you mentioned "Other than buying the cable in the first place" I have never successfully used a USB to parallel converter cable on any system. My suggestion, asisde from getting a true USB printer, is a parallel port card

I need a Vista driver for the USA-19QW Serial Adapter

I have an old 4-port Keyspan serial device that also doesn't work with Vista.  Unfortunately Keyspan didn't provide Vista drivers for some of the older USB to Serial devices before they were acquired by Tripp-Lite, so you will probably need to get a replacement (Keyspan usa-19hs has Vista support, that one works for me).  The support page for Keyspan USB devices is here: USB Connectivity & Device Servers

Need drivers for nikkai usb to serial converter rs232

I purchased the Nikkai USB to RS232 adapter from Maplin and could not get the device working. (Maplin staff not much help!) The lead uses the Prolific PL-2303 device but Prolific do not supply the drivers to end users.
However I found the drivers that appear to work at:

http://www.cooldrives.com/wividrforprc.html

This then recognises the lead as a COM port. So far everything seems to work OK.
(Null modem check and basic 9600 data transfer.)

I hope that helps everybody.
