Nikkai USB to serial convertor instructions say that you don't need driver if using Vista - its allegedly plug and play. That unfortunately is not correct - it does, but Vista can't find the driver on the CD that came with the product and it won't work without one!!!. Can't find Nikkai Computers web site, can't find drivers online. Its a bit strange - product came from Maplins
-   I am facing the same situation man. Is there anyone to help? I feel like Maplin ripped me. Cheers!

Hi I had the issue with card bus surprise removal, below is the test procedure and issue. Test configuration >Laptop(most of commercial models) >WinXP SP2 > Commercially available USB to PCMCIA Cardbus adapter > A High speed USB memory stick Test procedure The test is conducted as follows 1. Power on the WinXP system for the laptop. 2. Attached the USB to PCMICIA cardbus adapter to the PCMCIA slot of the laptop. 3. Check whether the standard USB drivers like EHCI and OHCI drivers from Microsoft were installed for the cardbus in the device manager . 4. If the cardbus is successfully detected then attached a High speed USB memory stick to the USB port of the cardbus ( Note X ) . 5. Check again whether the USB memory stick is enumerated through the cardbus in the device manager under EHCI driver. 6. If the USB memory stick is successfully enumerated then do some data transfer from device to host system or from host system to USB memory stick . 7. During data transfer between host system and the USB memory stick hot unplug the cardbus with the USB memory stick . check whether file transfer is successful / not successful and also verify whether drivers are unloaded after unplugging the cardbus. 8. If file transfer is aborted and drivers are unloaded without any problem then re-repeat step 2 to step 7 . Note X : After two to three trial of the above steps ( step 2 to step 7 ) we observed that the system freeze upon attaching the USB memory stick to the cardbus which is attached to the host system . The USB ports of the native ports were also non-functional which was working before re-attaching the cardbus. If we un-plug again the cardbus ,the system will comes out from freeze condition but still the native USB ports are non- functional and the drivers were not unloaded and is visible in the device manager . Do you have any suggestion why this problem happen . Any suggestion are welcome .

I've been having difficulty using more than one device attached to the Belkin FireWire 3-Port PCI Card model F5U503. When I attach more than one device along with my Seagate FreeAgent XTreme, the external hard drive is disconnected and the other devices do not function. I am attempting to attach an Epson R1800 Stylus Photo printer and an Epson Perfection 4870 Photo Scanner along with this hard drive. I cannot solve this issue in spite of being assured by Epson that the drivers they provide for their devices arre capable of attaching to the computer via FireWire.
I have the same problem with Nikkai USB serial converter 9 pins. Bought it from Maplin and have installed the driver that come with it but have an error message (code 34) " Windows cannot determine the setting for this device...bla..bla...bla".
I check on one of the website and it was advised to set the port settings to:
9600; 8; None; 1; Xon/Xoff .......however still not solving the problem. I used COM 6 as allocated automatically under General tab " Communication Port". Can anyone help advise the correct setting?
I use this port to transfer data from my laptop to Garmin GPS Etrex H.
