You must take this machine aLMOST COMPLETELY APART TO GET AT THE CLUTCH ASSY. IT COSTS AROUND $60 OR MORE FROM A VAC SHOP. this is one of the most miserable machines out there to repair if you can find the parts
be extremely carefull tearing it down, as the parts are flimsily made, and break easily
its why a repair shop will charge you 100 to change the belt

How to remove clutch on dyson dc07

This service is hard to explain. Try googling it so you watch a video of how it is done. You can purchase belts and rebuild the clutch with the new belts or you can purchase a new clutch with belts already installed

How to change a belt on Dyson 07

It very much depends if your model has a clutch or not. If it has a clutch, it is easier with a belt removal tool, if it has no clutch, it can be done with basic tools. There is also a workshop manual for the DC07 available here: Dyson DC07 Workshop Manual

Where can you purchase a belt for the dc07?and how do you change the belt on it?

Belts can be bought from eBay, vaccum cleaner shops and Dyson direct.
Please note that DC07s have two belts - one connects the output of the motor to the clutch, the other connects the clutch to the brush bar.
Unfortuenately the belt that connects the motor output to the clutch is hidden under a plastic cover, so you cant see if it is okay or not without some dismantling. This cover is not easy to remove and requires a Torx driver to under the securing screws.
If, after removing the cover, the other belt is okay, then you have a faulty clutch. New clutches are available on eBay reasonably cheaply, but again good tools and DIY skills are required.
Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com which has some excellent info on dismantling and repairing your machine, but unless you have access to such tools, and feel confident to tackle it, it's probably time to call Dyson or a Vacuum repairer.

Clutch Issue

Greetings from GoVacuum,

The clutch repair is not a simple task, but if you watch the video below closely, you can certainly get through it. You'll need to purchase a clutch system (it's best to stay with the genuine Dyson clutch, the generic clutch made is not as good) if you haven't already. You may purchase the clutch mechanism here; Dyson DC-07 Clutch Assembly for Early Models if you don't currently have one.

Here's a great video that walks you through step by step on how to replace the clutch on your Dyson. If you found this repair solution helpful, please be sure to rate the repair as helpful by clicking the 4 Thumbs Up Icons in the top right hand corner of this Repair.

I hope that this helped you,

Hi,

Remove sole plate by turning 3 plastic screws to unlock then pull plate off.
Check belt has not snapped.
If your machine is all floors with clutch check that selector knob on front side of machine goes to (D) or drive when you pull the handle back.
Let me know how you get on.
