I replaced the ignitor on my goodman furnace, but it still isn't turning red and the fire still doesn't come on. what is the problem?

Is your induced draft motor coming on first and if so have you checked the voltage to ignitor when it's calling for heat. If you are not getting voltage to ignitor then you probably need to replace the control board. Thank you.

I have 2 Superser heaters. The newer one ignites at the 2nd or 3rd push of the plunger. However, the older one is a real pain. Some years ago after a summer of inactivity, it failed to ignite so I took...

The first thing I would do is make sure that ignitor is in the proper placement. Compare it to your other one. You can carefully clean ignitor and pilot assembly. Check to see that you have a good strong spark when you push plunger. If not you probably need to replace the ignitor. One thing you can do is to hold pilot control down like usual and light with a match. You can check but a lot of these units use a spark ignitor like they use on propane grills, about $15.00 in most hardware stores. Hope this helps you. Thanks

I have a carrier 58RAV095-12 the exhaust fan will run for about 20 to 30 second when you first turn the furnace on then just shut off. Is there a way to check if the ignitor is working before going and...

Normally the Ignitor is easily removed with 1 screw....be careful its very brittle and obviousy turn the power off first...you likely will see a very small crack in the ignitor and a "Hot spot"...it may also be defective even though it's not cracked...the best thing to do is unplug the ignitor and recycle the furnace checking for 120 volts at the Ignitor shortly after the fan starts and before it stops...If you have 120 volts and the ignitor isn't lighting up then it's defective....if you have no power to the ignitor it is something else and requires more info...look for an error code (Lights flashing on the circuit board)

Buy a new ignitor either from the ignitor store online, or your local distributer, Contracter, dealer.. they usually run from 15 dollars to 35. Their simple to change out and deffinite do it yourselfer... Oh and turn off power at breaker panel, you don't need any unexpected surprises!!

Fan comes on butno heat

Sounds like you have a hot surface ignitor that has gone out. Go down to the unit remove top cover to inspect the operation of unit. First stage is draft fan it should come on and clear out the flue about 2 min. later the hot surface ignitor starts to glow it sits right in front of the burners if no glow the ignitor needs to be replaced. let me know how it turns out. SOUNDS LIKE THE IGNITOR IS BAD OR NO GAS IS AVAILABLE.THREE ATTEMPTS TO LIGHT AND THE SAFTY SHUTS IT DOWN SO WE KNOW THERE IS A CALL. FORCED DRAFT IS RUNNING,AND AN ATTEMPT TO LIGHT IS OCCURRING. CHECK TO SEE IF 120 VOLTS IS BEING SENT TO THE IGNITOR IF IT IS AND IGNITOR IS NOT GLOWING THEN ITS BAD . R AND R EXACTLY AS FOUND. DONT TOUCH CERAMICS, WEAR COTTON CLEAN GLOVES .YOU ARE PROBABLY GOING TO HAVE TO PAY A PRO CAUSE THE PRTS ARE NOT GOING TO BE SOLD TO A HOME OWNER DUE TO THIS BEING A GAS FURNACE. A PRO WILL FIX , WARRANTY, AND TEST HEAT EXCHANGER, AND BE THERE INSURED IF THERE IS A PROBLEM.
