Interchangability of camera lenses

In 1985 I purchased a Minolta 7000 AF camera, I have gotten rid of the camera but still would like to use the lenses. Can you tell me what other camera's vintage or new that they will work with. Thank in advance

If you want a DSLR, the Sony Alpha series use the same les mounts, and they are compatible.

Rtjohnson1,
the minolta 7000 was the first auto focus slr. you can still buy a good working 7000 on e-bay for around $40.00 to $50.00, or take a 7000 lens to a camera store and try it on a newer model.

I have a minolta 7000i non-digital camera with several nice lenses. Are any of these lenses compatible with any new digital cameras?

I am pretty sure that your lenses are just fine for your Digital camera(Minolta or Sony only) as they have the same lens mount. I you choose a KM5 or KM7 digital cameras your lenses will be longer by a factor of 1.4x, same goes for Sony cameras except A850 and A900. They will give you the same magnification ratio as your 7000. Minolta was sold to Sony several years ago, and they have been building a great reputation since. Your AF maxxum lenses will work great on any KM or Sony camera(ADI is available on distance integrated Minolta maxxum lenses only. You can tell by looking at a lens marking which will say "D" if it is compatible with distance integration). I find distance integration an extra not a necessity. If you have some great glass that you love and hold dear, then it would be a great idea to buy Sony. Note that another answer by miket756 is mostly wrong. Yes your lenses will get longer on APS sized sensors, but a 28 mm will never become a 150mm equivalent(thats just stupid). It will look more like 40-50mm on APS-C camera. If you got 2000-2700$ for Alpha850 or Alpha900 than your lenses will retain their mag factors. Good luck.

Maxxum 7000 are cheap these days. Get a used one on Ebay and keep yours for parts.
Better yet, get a 7000i, 700xi, 650xi, 800xi or a Maxxum 5, 7, or 9. Why? More focus points, faster AF, more options, same lenses. But you will need to replace your flash.
BTW...remove batteries when you aren't put it away.

Minolta SLR Lens on Sony - Does it work.

As I understand it, Sony bought Minolta, lock, stock, and barrel. Theoretically the lenses should fit and may work on manual, but I'm very sure they will not totally work on sony digital cameras. I wouldn't even try to fit them as the autofocus system on the camera may be damaged.

Lens compatability

Most lenses used on your Maxxum should work with the Sony digital SLRs - some features of the Sony won't be available, like image stabilization, but for general photos you won't notice.

Minolta 7000 Maxxum

The Minolta Maxxum 7000 uses a Minolta A mount, which is also used on the Sony Alpha series, as they bought out Minolta's technology. All Maxxum lenses should work for the most part on the Sony Alpha series of DSLR's, including the autofocus.

The Konica-Minolta 5d, and 7d, both discontinued but available used on ebay and other places will work with your AF lenses, as well as all the sony alpha camera bodies. KM sold their camera business to sony, and most of the whole maxuum/alpha/dynax group of engineers went with the sale to Sony. I had a 7000, and an 8000i, and all my lenses are quite happy on the 7D I picked up a few months ago on ebay.

Sony A100 compatibility

It would help if you actually gave details of the lens!

All the old Minolta AF and MF lenses will fit the Sony A100, but only the AF are auto-focus compatible.

Since the Maxxum 7000 was an AF camera, I would image that that is an AF lens pictured on the front.

Minolta Maxxum 7000 35mm SLR Camera not working

Dear Minolta friends,
I have recently bought a second hand Maxxum 7000 and a AF lens, but found the body not ocntrolling the aperture while shooting. I know 7000 has someting special. Is my problem is due to lens and body compatibility or actually the malfunction of the body. I am sure the AF lens is ok since i have tried it working with another minolta af body.
Can give me an advice?
