Try to find one here:

They provide plenty of ac adapters for ViewSonic LCD monitors.

Adapter? your monitor uses the same cord that you plug your computer in, these cords are all over the place and easy to find.

My VG800 will not work when first turned on. The indicator light turns green and then blinks on and off with a slight popping sound at every blink. After a period of time, the monitor just starts...

Please check the AC adapter first to see if it is putting out the correct DC voltage with load connected, I do not remember if the power supply has an indicator light on it, see if it is blinking.
Caps in power supply do go bad but you will not be able to fix it.

Vg800 viewsonic LCD monitor is not coming on

risuchjans, Not much. It's broke! If your not any good with a soldering iron, solder wick, solder ******, solder, LCD multimeter, then you should have a tech type look for bad (COLD) solder joints and bad capacitors on the "switch-mode-power-supply" pc board. Or you can visit youtube and find out all you need to know about the typical failure modes of LCD Back Lit monitors and how they are able to display all the pretty colors on their LCD panels and what you see if the "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" fail to light up and produce WHITE LIGHT so you can see what is being displayed on the LCD panel. Another solution would be to leave the monitor on till 2014! Have you contacted VIEWSONIC about a swapout program that might be in effect? It would also be a good thing if you were to also visit www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm , www.lcdparts.com, www.badcaps.net JUST FYI. Yes, It's my guess that you might have some thermally fractured solder joints on the SMPS board that are temperature sensitive and will need to be repaired. Let us know what your plans are! Bye for now. 12fixlouie

Monitor went black completely dead

Hi...there,
A simple way to check your AC Adapter, plugged into a socket and see if it lite green... If you don't see a green light lite on the AC Adapter, then it's DEAD... You can order the AC Adapter @ www.3rd-rocks.com but sometime you need to replaced both. Have a nice day!

Thanks

Without having it in front of me to test it's tough to tell. Sounds like a power supply problem, the shotgun approach would be to just replace all the electrolytics and see if that fixes the issue starting with the ones closest to the power input.

This is a VG800 right? Because the power supply and video boards are integrated on the monitor, so you can't really narrow it down between the power or video side of the board (you can unplug the inverter, but it sounds like you've already tried that). Since the power button is just a soft start button (the monitor always has power once it's been plugged in) you can try troubleshooting the parts of the board that are constantly energized and figure out where the power is switched on by the soft switch, that may be helpful.
