Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Want a timer diagram Maytag A208. Have partinstalled. Have run one wash. Problem remains with only slight difference. The timer looks 99.9% like the old one. Terminal positions don't exactly match;some are on backside. Felt that timer was the problem: machine would not cyle after fill up; just hung at the first agitate position and perpetually agitate! Manual advance to any other position would hang there. Performance with new timer is somewhat the same except it times and cycles down the agitate process but hangs at a position beyond the initial position. So new timer motor advances from fill thru agitate but halts at end of agitae so won't drain, refill and contine. Am confident of most transferred contacts from old to new doubtful on one wire white/grn that I had to splice into motor black wire because triple tab on old was not replicated on new. Also I seem to have TWP wires #17.

How do I get the door to open when still locked after normal cycle stopped with 1 minute left?

Try putting it through another cycle and see if it is still going to stay locked. That would seem like a timer problem. The door should only be locked normally, as I see it, when there is power applied to the locking solenoid so it should not remain locked with no power. You might call a maytag dealer and ask a sales or service person about this also.

How do I get the door to open on a Maytag washer that remains locked?

It sounds like the timer is defective. You may need to call a Maytag sales and/or service center and ask them what to do. WIll the washer start a new cycle?? If so start a new cycle and swee if the machine will get past this sticking point next time.

Maytag centennial washer not working properly in Normal cycle. After it shuts off there is still water in the bottom of the tub. I can move the dial to another setting such as Casual cycle or Heavy Duty...

We have the same problem. The Normal cycle still works, but after the final spin cycle, water is again added (1 gal est.) and the machine stops. Problem occurred after washing an old 25 x 30 inch rug which partially disentegrated when washed. We were seeing particles of the rug in subsequent wash cycles during drain into laundry tub. Don't know if something is plugged in the washer or if it is something else. In another load after the rug wash, the top of the washer was lifted during the wash cycle. The water problem occurred immediately after lifting the lid as the wash load went through remaining cycles. Maybe this affected the timer? Maytag customer service suggested unplugging power cord to re-set timer. This didn't make any difference. We need a technician to tell us if this is a timer problem or something else?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. Your testing of the solenoid was good. My question is this... when the timer stops do you still get the magnetic attraction? If I interpet this correctly; the answer is no. So we are dealing with a power problem. Power comes from the timer straight to the COLD solenoid. (Blue wire)

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/sect/i/e/j/iejjijajjf.gif (wiring diagram)

Power comes in to the TIMER from the lid switch on the red wire of terminal 12. It is supposed to be then routed to Yellow wire terminal 3 and the internal contacts of the timer (buss 14) connect power to the BLUE wire 5B. If your not getting power at the timer 5B / Blue wire lid closed the problem is inside the timer. Just make sure the timer connections discussed above are correct ON the timer.

Maytag PN 2.5639 timer NEW price is around $147.00 for factoryoriginal Used Avg $35.00. Your choice if you need a timer.

Maytag Washer never stops running, goes from 1 cycle to the next

The timer is not stopping the agitate mode. And the timer is suppose to have its own off setting at the end of cycles. Suspect pretty strongly that the timer is at fault. Cant say for sure without looking at a wire diagram and eliminating any other controls.

If this helps you please rate me as high as possible.
If it doesn't help you please rediscribe your problem in more detail to help me understand, post back and I will follow up.

Maytag top load won't drain

during spin is the tub making a slight roaring sound? if so the tub bearing is going bad causing the motor to work harder than normal causing it to heat up. this motor has a thermal protector which shuts it down , although the power to the timer remains therefore the timer still advances. this will require a new bearing and seal kit.

Maytag Washer Getting stuckon wash cycle

the possibility of it being the timer is most likely..as the rest of the cycles remain ok.. if you require a timer, you can get one here at this link..(click the link here) http://www.easyapplianceparts.com/AdvancedModelSearch.aspx?ModelNum=HAV4657EWW&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=1

please be aware that you will need the machine serial number in order for them to issue you with the correct part/s you will require.. parts are cross referenced with the serial number.

these diagrams will also enlarge in order for you to maintain your machine by yourself at little but the cost of the parts required... but please DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY REPAIR YOURSELF if you think you may not have the technical know how to follow these technical drawings..hope this helps
