Ok click run and type "regedit" in the run box (this will open registry editor)

goto this key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell

"Double click" on the word "default" and set the value to the word "none" (without the quotes"")

then close registry editor

Also if you are having this problem when clicking on a drive then type this in the run box:
"regsvr32 /i shell32.dll" (without the quotes"")

that should fix the problem.

hope this info helps

Spooling subsystem error. I can print some things but some things get stuck and I cannot even delete them.

Click "start" and go to "Run"

Type "services.msc" at the prompt which will open the Services
window.

Scroll down the alphabetical list in the right window pane until you come
to the entry with the name "Print Spooler"

Right-click this entry, then select "stop". This will stop the computer
running the process that holds your print queues.

Leaving that window open for now, click again on "Start", and then click
"My Computer" to open a Windows Explorer window.

We've stopped the queue service, now we just have to clear the jam that is already there. To do this we navigate to the print spool folder which is hiding within the Windows folders. Usually Windows is installed on C: drive, but you should be able to tell when the Explorer window opens which drive it is on.

The usual path to the spool folder is C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS, but yours may be slightly different. Your windows drive may have another name for instance, but this would be uncommon. So click on your Windows drive (usually C), then double-click on the Windows folder, and then find the System32 folder and double-click on that. Windows may warn you that you are about to view system files, but click "View files anyway" message and search out the "spool folder". Within the Spool folder is your Printers folder, and you should open that.

Delete every file within this folder to empty the jammed print queue (pressing the "ctrl" and "a" keys will select all files and then you can just hit "delete").

Close the explorer window now that we have emptied the cleared spool files and return to your Services window. We must re-start the Printer spooler service, and do so by right-clicking the Print Spooler entry and selecting "Start" from the list. Close the services window and try printing again.

Black screen. Problem started while trying to download latest AVG free. Quick flash said something like 'touch pad not working'. Can i use mouse? Had a black screen prob before with Acer Aspire, so...

1. When you are under black screen condition, if your mouse and keyboard are still usable, and you are lucky enough to have a dialog window (usually "My Document"), use this window to go

C:(or whatever drive that stores your operation system) -> "Windows" folder -> find an application called "explorer", double click and open it. Now you should be able to get your screen back to normal.
2. If you don't have a dialog window, press "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "Delete" together and transfer the screen back to the login page. Click "Task Manager" -> Click "Application" tab -> Click "New task" -> type in "explorer" and then press "Enter" key. Now you should get the desktop screen.
3. Press the Start button (the one with window icon, at the lower left corner), open the "Run" program (if you can't find it in the menu, type "run" in the search bar and search for it). Type "regedit" to open the registry editor.
4. Go to this root:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Under this root, you should see a item named "Shell", if the data value of "Shell" is "C:\Windows\Explorer.exe C:\Windows\system32\tlntsvi.exe", here is the MALWARE!

The correct value should be "C:\Windows\Explorer.exe" only, whatever following this command is the bad guy that brings your computer to black screen of death.

5. Now MARK DOWN the NAME of the malware (in my case, mine is "tintsvi.exe"), because this malware is known to have different names. So far I've seen "tintsvi" and "pnkx".

Now delete whatever command that follows "C:\Windows\Explorer.exe". Close the registry editor.

Start "Search" program, type in the malware name (in my case, "tintsvi") and search the remains of the malware. You SHOULD find something in the "Windows" folder. I've found a "tintsvi8973.exe" application as well as a weird file called "Servx.exe" under "C:\Windows\System32" folder. Since "servx" and "tintsvi8973" were created at almost the same time, I believe it is a malware so I deleted both of them.
