The defrost timer is what I think you are asking. It is behind a cover near the light, The timer puts the fridge in defrost ever 6 to 8 hours. If the timer is bad it will stop the cycle of defrost and cause the freezer and the cold food section to warm spoiling the food and increase the freezer temp. Try turning the timer screw clockwise until you hear the fridge compressor stop. If after this listen for a crackling noise that will be the sound of defrost taking place. If doing this starts defrost, you will need to replace the timer.

I have this same problem. Now, the freezer will not get cold enough, but still water runs down into the ice bin and just turns into a big solid block of ice. The water is dripping from the top of the freezer compartment. I have disconnected the water coming to the refrig to not allow it to make ice, but still happening. Please post if you have found a solution? Defroster issues?

How do I replace the door light switch?

I appreciate your post, Deborah!

From what you have described you need to replace the door light switch on your Frigidaire freezer. In order to assist you further I would need your model number. You can locate your serial tag (which lists your model number) on the inside wall of your freezer. I look forward to assisting you. -Matt

I don't believe the light has a separate fuse. Isn't there a switch that operates the light when the door is open? Check the contacts make when door opens

Refrigerator light does not work on ge profile

Check for voltage at the light receptacle, and then try to find the wire from the door switch. There should be a schematic on the back of the fridge. The switch can wear out after ten years.

1992 Honda Accord EX 2 Door. Dome light stopped working, Rear window defroster stopped working, Headlights on chime stopped working, Intermediate speed on wipers stopped working......Replaced ICU unit on...

why not use a meter, and the schematic to find the reasons
the dome light works in many ways,
the head light warning uses 2 inputs to do that "logic"
and 2 ways, key left in
and exiting car with HL on.
so the door switches are bad?, the FSM tells you how to fix this.
no FSM,? no schematic,
try alldata.com, its there. every word. and how to do tests.

a bad fuse/ just because they look good , don't make them good.
sorry!
they can have hair line cracks, we test them.
but if they look bad, they always are.... no lie that. (no china fuses)
and the ICU may need 2 or more fuses good to work
that becomes clearer with a real schematic. hard facts.

seems to me you lost power. to ICU. or?

the ICU can fail for many reasons, mostly not the ICU as many have found. (vast posts make parts sellers rich with $175 a pop)
shorts. top the list. and blow fuses. not tested
there are 2 ways to test a fuse.
ohmmeter (called continuity tests) using any DMM
or in circuit, 12v on both sides. (super easy to do and is rubber meets the road test)
(or even store bought fuse testers, useless to me with any DMM)

Fridge light does not work.

Some appliances have electrical schematics on the back of the fridge, some are hidden behind rear cover. Wire,Switch or fuse..not much else it could be.

Refrigerator light not working before fail light started to blink when the door was opened - contacts on door switches OK - believe it to be poor contection - reading low voltage - looking for schematics...

If you have checked the light switch and found it to be working normally, then you will need to replace the control board because the light bulb is controlled by the relay switch. It is not directly connected to the light switch. Good luck

Frig is running hard but temp is higher then set in both frig and freezer

Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then…

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Refrigerator inside light will not go out when door closes

This can be due to one of two things, either the door is not hitting the light switch when it closes or the light switch is bad.

Locate the switch, it is usually on the top of the cabinet inside the refrigerator, push the switch, if the light does not go out then the switch is bad, if the light goes out the door needs adjusted so it will hit the switch when it closes. Typically this can be done by loosening the hinges and holding the door in place while someone tightens the hinges back up.

GE Monogram refrigerator does not cool. The fan on top was loose and not spinning. I fixed that, and it now spins properly, but he freezer and frig will not cool at all.

I need you to pull away from wall and remove cover over compressor and feel compressor for heat. If too hot to hold hand there or if warm or just cool. Tell me what you find. I would like to help you solve this if you like. Sea Breeze
