Question about Samsung LN-T4665F 46 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

My LCD TV has a red background instead of black. Everything is red, even when I disconnect all cables. It used to be black, and now, whatever source I use (component, composite, whatever), the images are all red.

Backlight bulbs turn red when they go bad. They are hard to replace, and require soldering. They contain mercury vapor, so I would be careful not to break them. Bulbs cost about 20 each usually. Could be 2-4 bulbs to replace. It is a pretty difficult repair, good luck.

If it's completely black, then a ribbon or cable internally is disconnected or the panel is bad or the light source (LED or whatever) is burnt out and will need a new one. Chances are it's broken to where you should buy a new TV rather than repair

I have a 9-month old Sanyo LCD 32K40L colored TV. The TV reception just became black and white. This is the first time this happened.

How is the set hooked up? Check the cables on the back of the set. If you are hooked up with component cables (red, blue, and green) make sure the cables are good and that they're not disconnected from the set or cable box or whatever. Plugging in the green cable only will give you black and white. If you are using the tuner (use the TV remote to change channels) then you have a weird problem which may be a bad tuner or maybe a bad main board if the input signal checks ok. Hope this helps.

My dad's 6 yr. old Vizio 32 inch flatscreen said 'no signal,' then faded to black. Is this the end????! Surely not!

No signal indicates that the TV is not getting a signal from a source cable, so no, it's not the end! The first thing you can try is to verify that all the connections between the TV and the cable, satellite, DVD player, or whatever device you're trying to use have not come loose and that the device is powered on. If that doesn't fix the problem, your next step would be to check what input option the TV is on. For example, when using a cable source with an HD cable box, you'd want to use your remote that came with the TV to check the component or HDMI sources. To do this, look for a button on the remote marked "source" or "input." If the remote has neither of those, sometimes the Menu button can get you to input options. Once you've selected the right source, your TV should have a picture again, but as a last resort, you can contact either your TV manufacturer or cable/satellite provider.

Color in tv is very green you cant tell what suppose to be what i was watching cartoons with kids and the animal that suppose to be red was black i tried adjusting color temp and every thing even resetting...

If your using a tuner for your TV channels and you are using component video cables make sure that the red cable is not plugged into the audio socket. red blue and green cables should all be plugged into the "component" input on the tv not audio.

Blinking red and green squares with blue fuzzy bars in the back

Before thinking of TV problem, you should play a DVD first and see how it goes. TV problem only happens when all sources were affected. If you have the same problem for all sources, open the cover, disconnect LVDS cable and re-connect it; then try to tap or shake gently the LVDS cable and see if the picture changes. If yes, replace LVDS cable. If not, then measure the power on supplies from main board to power supply board, see this 5 VDC is stable or not. If it works fine, the problem may come from T-con board or some case from defective panel.

No picture but can hear volume

Try unplugging the TV cable from the mains and leave it off for a few hours. The longer you leave it disconnected from the mains ( i recommend overnight) the better the chance it will reset the TV.

When you switch the TV on, try pressing the SOURCE button until you get a picture from the cable/sat box or whatever connected to the TV.

If this fails you may have a problem with the power circuit board. This will cost approx £150 for parts and labour from you local TV repair man.

Good Luck

I have issues with my unit. Sync problems

Are you sure it's the TV and not the video source ? Have you tried other video sources ? You can also try to switch over to component cable. The red/green/blue colored cable. You only need HDMI for blu-ray to get the 1080p. If your TV is only 1080i then you don't even need to use HDMI. Also, some sources actually look better with a component cable compared to HDMI. Give it shot.

Closed caption and black square

your TV do not disable close caption in composite mode. It may in component mode. Please make sure that the close caption in your TV menu is not set to "text"
Please be advice that CC :Text is the ONLY one that can give you a black box.

Best regards
